YouTube Shorts are really blowing up at the moment.
So today I decided to create a new channel and uploaded 10 shorts videos as an experiment.
The videos were downloaded from a copywrite free content site; so no editing needed whatsoever.
No watermarks on the content either, so the content looks original.
I am just going to leave it to gain organic views, no botted views from panels.
I am interested to see if the algorithm will move it up the rankings as it gains views.
Here is a link to the channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrFUnF2pLLtK36_npOQdO-wThe videos are all under 35 seconds. This should gain strong retention rates.
The idea I had for silent content is this.
Viewers will keep messing around with their volume settings and trying to figure out why no sound?
By that time the content will have 100% played through, this 100% viewer retention; which is good for the algorithm.
All 10 videos are silent, so it doesn't matter which one they click on. It will have gained 100% retention by the time they figured the video is silent.
I thought it would be interesting to see how a Shorts channel does organically with no work whatsoever.

Some statistics from the channel I'm working on now. 100% organic. Good luck!

Good stats. Are you using original content or copyrighted? How are you planning to monetise? Is there a way to monetise Youtube Shorts? I think they are not working with adsense.

1. Content from TikTok / Instagram / Twitter - i add a few more fragments in the video and change the background song.
2. I have no plans to monetize it, just grow it for a moment. You can use the community tab
3. For me, videos that are over 40 seconds work very well.

1. Are you using copyrighted song? If yes does YT detect that? If not then maybe YT shorts work like IG right? You cannot monetise it but for example you can put links in the comments or in the community tab.

2. What's your channel niche? I'm sorry for asking if it's a secret.

1. Are you using copyrighted song? - Yes
2. If yes does YT detect that? - Of course
3. If not then maybe YT shorts work like IG right? - I don t know
4. You cannot monetise it but for example you can put links in the comments or in the community tab. - Right
5. What's your channel niche? I'm sorry for asking if it's a secret. - Let's say... funny things

So YT detect that you are using a copyrighted song in your video and they don't remove the video? If yes how the video is still active?

35 seconds is kinda too long. I would go for 15-20 sec max. Otherwise people will drop out - 35 seconds is just way too much.
90% of the videos that went viral for me are 40+ seconds. I think it's a good strategy, because the retention is very high, if the video is interesting and makes users watch until the end.

My point is for the silent videos - 35 seconds are too much for the users to wonder if their volume is fucked up.. I got bored maybe at around 10 second mark.

The first video is 36 seconds, the other 9 videos are all under 25 seconds.

Change of plan.
I deleted my channel and have created a new one.
"Sexy fitness" is the niche.
These type of videos are doing well.
See link to my new channel with first video to test.

Shorts can't be monetised with AdSense yet, so I decided to just use the #shorts tag, but make the video 7.44 long to gain more retention.
I am going to leave this channel totally organic, no botted views, likes, subscribers, etc.
I want to test the #shorts tag effect on a regular length video.
