Hello BHW.
Satoshi from Canada here.
I've crept BHW for many years and finally decided to create an account. This place has given me a lot of ideas and insights, so hopefully I can return the favour by sharing my experiences and contributing what I've learned with online marketing.
A little bit about me:
Like many of you here, I entered the world of online marketing simply because I wanted to build more income streams.
7 years ago, an ex-friend offered me a sales job on the side selling SEO services for his digital marketing agency. I had no idea what SEO even was, let alone the science behind it. But I said yes to him anyway as he made the opportunity sound very lucrative. A young and ambitious kid in my early 20s, I was also the top sales at a corporate telecommunications store, so I thought to myself: How hard could selling this SEO thing be?
For about a year-and-a-half, I sold SEO services completely oblivious to how it worked. I knew only what I needed to know in order to generate sales appointments and close deals- By ranking your website higher in the search results, your website will naturally get more clicks which results in more leads/sales/phone calls.
Approximately $80,000 worth of new sales later, my ex-friend changed our revenue-share agreement, citing that I was no longer contributing any value to our recurring clients. Because our revenue-share agreement was verbal (I didn't know any better), there was nothing I could do- I went from making $9,000 per month on the side to $3,000 per month.
And so, I took it personally, left his agency, and went out on my own.
Instead of immediately sourcing another SEO provider, I decided it was time to learn everything from the ground up because I was truly curious about and fascinated by SEO. To me, SEO done properly is like turning on an unstoppable tap of leads for a sales-starved business. So, I became obsessed with drilling SEO down into a science.
Day and night, I consumed content, bought courses, and applied what I learned on new clients.
Here's what I realized after all of these years of learning: The most impactful and sustainable things you can learn about SEO are FREE. Take Ahrefs's Youtube channel, for example. Their content is practical enough for anybody looking for simple and actionable steps on how to begin climbing the search engine ranks.
"The basics are the basics and you can't beat the basics." - Charles Poliquin
Since then, I've help so many businesses and in different industries claim top search rankings that I just have an eye for what works and what doesn't. Nowadays, it takes me no less than 15 minutes to come up with an effective SEO strategy.
Presently, I operate my own digital marketing agency, providing SEO, PPC (Google Search Partner since 2018), CRO, Web Design, and Webinar Funnel services for clients across Canada and US. It may be hard to believe, but I still do most of the work myself. To me, writing ad copy and designing landing pages that convert is like art. I get the same feeling of fulfillment every time a newly launched campaign rings through a new sale.
Oh...I also dabble in many businesses: I own a foodware company, bookkeeping company, cleaning company, and heavy equipment rental/sales company. My partners manage the operation-side of each business while I manage the marketing-and accounting-side of things.
Without sounding like I'm bragging too much, these businesses are profitable only because of my background in digital marketing. Most businesses have a problem with efficient client acquisition. The rest is easy once you solve that part of puzzle.
Anyways, that's enough about me.
Shoot me a message and let's connect!
