my PC suddenly asked for HDD passwords (I never set)

Yesterday I switched off my PC as usually (with the down left button)

Today:
I pressed a button to swith on my PC and suddenly appeared a black background with a blue rectangle where is written to enter a HDD password which I never set .... OMG .....
I was really shoked, I don't remember that I did that EVER (so i think it could be either a VIRUS, or CMOS battery problems (with last I had a problem once)....without password PC just turned off and that was all....
ALL the day I was searching on YouTube videos & google info on how to reset/recover password.... And there were not much info about this & written that I am pretty much screwed in this situation.
I tried different strategies (without using any softwares) ~ taking out CMOS battery for 30 min, putting superviser & user password in BIOS and then switching off them in a specific order....

FINALLY I SUCCEEDED - I don't know what exactly helped, but I am SO HAPPY (everything works, nothing is lost from HDD)...I spent around 12 hours for solving this problem.


Did you face anything like this ever?

This can be done by BIOS setting. Not 100% sure but I know. I was having an option for that in my dell laptop.

I've heard of bios passwords randomly getting turned on (lots of reasons this can happen) but not HDD passwords You sure you weren't just drunk?

hahahah, I drink very rarely (like only during New Year eve or my birthday) & yesterday it wan't that day....But sometimes I sleepwalk....but I think it would be too crazy to do it during sleepwalking, no?

Well, it's impossible to say really. The password could have been on there for a very long time but the HDD never fully powered off until now ^_^
