Advice with reddit adult content

O Im noob to reddit and some help and guidance from reddit gurus here are welcome.

My background.... I am a programmer and hoster and involved in adult industry for a long time.

As pornhub gets way too difficult because of account verification etc I am looking into reddit.

My plan....
Start couple of subreddit and post regularly some unique amateur videos, not spamming.... Just building the community for long term use so I can deploy it later by sending some traffic to our websites... But that's over 6 months probably at least.


For now I want to figure out what is the recommended way to post adult videos? When posting from pornhub it gets embedded just fine. Posting from my own sever it's just a link and no thumbnails. And another problem is that posting from my own server will looks spammy as there are obviously my own urls.

So what's the best approach?

You’ll need to tweak some things on your front-end to get images/thumbnails to embed correctly.

When building out a sub, the last thing you want to do is make it look like you’re marketing too early. Stick with websites people have complete confidence in at first.

Could you be more specific about tweaking? I assume you mean a embed code? Any html code example that works on reddit?

But the downside is that as I am hosting the content, it will looks spamy from day one... That's way I prefer we'll know sites that host adult to upload first and then use there link to submit on reddit

The best way to go here is use redgifs/Imgur. Upload clips from your videos to redgifs and not just any random clip but the part that will get people excited to watch more of it. Now if people will like the clip, they will ask for the source in the comments. Now reply with the text inserted link to the video on your website.
Also since you will be growing a subreddit, you can place the links to your website in the sidebar/menu/automod and whereever you want.

It’s been years since I’ve had the problem but I think the workaround was some meta tag addition. Don’t quote me on that, but when I had the issue I had to do some digging to find the tag. Probably since 2018 though, I don’t know if it’s the host I use for sites or Reddit changed something but I never had the issue again, even without manually adding the tag to the template. ‍Wish I could be of more help with that specific problem but I really only work on the marketing side of Reddit.

I know thumbnails are superior no doubt, especially in the adult industry, but you could just try being really uniquely descriptive and see how that works. Probably not as good as thumbnails, but just a thought.

best way to grow your subreddit is making crossposting with similar subreddits, if your content is good you will grow fast
