Struggling to rank Shopify website

Hi All,

I have a Shopify website stuck on the top of page 2 for some time now. I have a strong PBN pointing towards it and it just will not move. Could this be that Shopify is not great for SEO? In the past I have used Wordpress and never really had a problem ranking the Wordpress sites. I see that Google has not even indexed my old blog posts so I get the feeling Shopify is not being crawled properly or something along those lines. This is just my guy instinct tbh but I don't think buying more links will solve this issue.

Interesteed if anyone has had issues ranking a Shopify website? I might move it to Woocommerce if need be.

I switched to woo, having stupidly deviated from that when I first got into eCommerce. Easily customizable with the help of a programmer.

I think you're better off with woo.
Why don't you do some social media marketing and influencer marketing? I mean, I don't think you can compete with all the online stores on Google.

I do not mean to hijack this thread but why is everyone on this thread suggesting Woo over Shopify? I only ask because I am building a store myself but I cannot decide between Woo and Shopify. Most people use Shopify from what I can gather.

So I am currently finishing up my shopify site as I type this. The ranking of the site was a concern for me as well so I made the decision that the next 2 sites would be non shopify for all the customization options. I have scraped and indexed my competitors to better understand how they are ranking in the search engines. So I have made sure my product descriptions, meta tags and image tags were in place, again with the assumption that the web crawlers would index the store. I also have a presence on almost every social platform. I think Shopify is safe for newbies like myself that are not afraid to learn new shit. Shopify has its guidelines. Just not sure where they stand on SEO and how fly you can really be. As stated the next two projects will non shopify and as Panther28 stated you can do wonders with the help of a programmer!

Shopify is really great if you want to make a store for your offline business or if you want to run ppc or other active marketing campaigns for your dropshipping business.

For SEO, they have a very less blog customisation options, low snippet options, don't have much url customisation and its overall expensive.

Thats the main reason for using woo for seo.

So I guess the real issue is the mitigation of technical issues and having to have a outsourced IT person make sure the site stays up, updated, supported etc...I am all for the customization, just need to better understand the numbers LOL. I like that I dont have to worry about the technical with shopify.

Its one of the major advantage of shopify, its a pretty simple cms but there is always a learning curve when you are trying to learn new things and mostly have a fruitful reward behind it.

I feel woocommerce is best than shopify.

I agree I fell for the stupid shopify shinny object but went to woocom never going back. Woocom for me was the best move

Shopify is good to quickly setup a store without all the technical stuff or to quickly test products. But the url structure sucks and you never really own the store.

Personally, I would never use Shopify for long-term e-commerce projects, I think that's why it's widely used for dropshipping.
