[Question] Product redirect SEO rank

Hi guys, I need your advice again!
I have an e-commerce website and when I put products out of stock they lose google rank until I put them back on.
Some of the products will not be back in stock but they rank good and I don't want to cancel them.
My question is: If I redirect that product to another similar product page, will I lose rank or what? How does it work?

Add a email subscription notifier for when the product is back in stock (even promise an exclusive early bird/restocking discount as an incentive). At least you can hit them up again later.

I wouldn't recommend doing a redirect unless you fully plan on discontinuing a product.

Unless you provide an alternative reason/value for the users who land on your product page looking to buy a product that is now out of stock, G will see the users bouncing and going to the next website in the SERPs, further pushing you down.

I would recommend crafting more incentives to keep users on out of stock pages or push them through to new pages, have them spend as long as you can on your site to maintain positive user intent signals from G, show related products, 30 sec video, show a countdown of when next batch will arrive, if not email sub for back in stock, do a pre-order on the next batch with a discount or bogo.

Avoid having the rich snippet schema of out of stock products in the serps for better CTA as well.

Right now I have the "waiting list" plugin on the out of stock products but on G the items result out of stock, so customers do not click the link and the page lose rank... I guess there is no way to avoid the out of stock on google right?

You reason why G is showing out of stock is because you have a plugin adding rich snippet product data on the page, find a way to remove that and it won't show on the SERPs.

I wouldn't remove the plugin all together, as this would most likely have a negative affect across your site. Just adjust the rich snippet code that is loading on your out of stock products pages. This can be done with some custom php in your functions.php
