It's what drives people to work, pays for things we want or need and easiest way to measure value in our society (prior to money we just had bartering/trade).

However, whilst it does afford you the best lifestyle and healthcare it's no substitute for good health, and other people knowing you have a lot can make you a target. People become more shallow and you can become more obsessed with obtaining money than actually living life.

It really depends on the person and society they are in, some will say yes some will say no.

Once your basic needs are covered, money are in fact an obstacle to be happy. Sure, its better to cry in a Jaguar instead of city bus, but the reality is that rich people are more likely to kill themselves, die from substance abuse and whatnot, compared to a middle class person.
