So about 3 weeks ago a friend calls me and says a lightening bolt or whatever hit her building, burned her laptop bla bla bla, asks if I have a laptop to loan her for a week max. Incidentally I just happened to have a laptop I could free up. And she's not hot, so it's not like rescuing a damsel in distress or anything like that, no dick thinking. I just did it out of the kindness of my heart to be honest.
So anyway when she got it she calls me the laptop turns on but the screen is black, then it turns out she pressed some button to make the screen go black (I have no idea which button). Then the laptop turns on but is asking for email to login. WTF? I've had this laptop for 6 years, and for about 3 years it's been working 24/7 with a daily restart, no black screens, no emails, no problems. What the hell dude?!
So a week goes by, she doesn't call nothing. A second week goes by, nothing. A third week go by, and I send her a message today. She apologized, thanked me, brought me the laptop. But before she brought it she calls me to ask me for my email so that she can create a new user and remove her user account and... wait a minute. What the fuck??? What user? You created a user? Why?
You press the button, the lap top turns on and loads windows, and you use it. The end.
So I told her don't worry about users and passwords just bring the lap top over. And now I can't load windows because it's asking me for a password. Why would you loan someone's laptop for a week (or 3 weeks you lying pricks) and set a fucking password, and even set a picture for your windows account that you created. Why would you do that? What the hell is wrong with you? You people are nuts.
---
So anyway I'm gonna load windows or some other operating system from USB and enter BIOS and load from USB on boot and format the laptop, you guys know the drill, or some of you do anyway. Frankly I don't wanna ask her for the password because I don't wanna enter windows and see what god awful things were done on the PC while she had it. Does it have virues malware and ransomware on it? Will it turn into a robot and exterminate all life on earth? Or maybe it has... a fucking antivirus installed and I have to murder someone. Ugh.......
Point is, I fucking hate all of you. You all SUCK. I hope covids gets ya!!!
Anyway anyway anyway, on to my actual point...

I have a free lap top that I don't have a use for anymore, and I would like to move all my crypto wallets and all my crypto-related activities on it. This is in order to remove my crypto wallets from my main lap top, because I use my main lap top for work on a daily basis and even though I'm a madafaking genius and perfect person, I'm not perfect, and viruses and scammers are all over this covid-infested planet. And I wanna separate my crypto access from my main laptop. My other laptop will go in the drawer and will never leave the house, and will only be turned on when I need to do some crypto activity on the fly.
Someone told me I'm best to put Linux I think he said, because Linux doesn't get viruses and so it's super safe. But I've never used Linux, and I'm not sure if I wanna deal with the learning curve right now. Frankly I don't really have the time. I think I'd rather use Windows, but keep it tight you know, keep it empty and clean and safe. By the way, an antivirus is out of the question. I don't trust antiviruses, I don't use antiviruses.
So anyway what's you guyses advice, how to have a crypto-dedicated laptop and have it be as safe as possible?
Thanks
