Help! Should I change this domain name?

Hello,

Recently I purchased the domain viralspy.co, the purpose of the acquisition was to rebuild the dormant software brand under a new management.

I myself, personally, like .io and .com domains and I am "afraid" that .co would look bad in the long term in terms of brand building. For that reason I purchased also the .io of the same domain (not the .com which is sold for $1k+).

My question is whether I should do the move between the two domains, or should I stay with the .co and stop thinking that it's a bad ending for a domain name? I'd love to hear both your personal opinion and your professional opinion.

In terms of backlinks, the .co domain already has some authority, as these screenshots from Google search console shows:

In terms of external tools SEM gave it a DR of 11, Ahrefs gave it nothing and Moz gave it a DA of 8

So what do you guys think, would you change the domain name because in your heart you desire a .io domain insead of a .co or would you put what you feel aside and continue growing a .co account. And is .co really a bad domain name or is it just in my head?

personally, both .io and .co look the same to me: NOT professional. So, it wouldn't make a single difference to me but since the .co version is aged and has backlinks... I'd go with it and completely ignore .io

I do have the option to buy the .com version it costs about $1k at the moment.

Would you buy it and redirect the .co domain to it or would you stay with the .co to void wasting these backlinks?

You can't change your domain name once it's registered. During and after your initial registration period, there are scenarios where you may need to take the following actions to manage your domain: Renew your domain: Turn on auto-renew or manually add years to your registration.

I am not trying to change it, I am considering to redirect the existing domain to a new one

I don't really see any valuable link here, to be honest.

.co and .io are similar in terms of branding and trust so I would not change to the .io.

If you can get the .com and see this as a long-term business then that may be a good idea, just make sure to redirect the .co so you don't lose the power of the backlinks.
