Hi guys,
Can you please help me with this issue regarding Google indexing in Search Console: my new website (created with WordPress) cannot be crawled after verifying the website, changing robots.txt, and even added a meta tag in the head section.
Basically, first I verified property in Search Console. By adding the txt record. All went fine.
Then, the Inspect URL and Request Indexing kept failing constantly so I read all tutorials and I did the following:
- the file robots.txt did not exist, so I created it in the root of my website. It contains this code:
User-agent: * Disallow:
- I even added a meta tag in the head section, from header.php:
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow">
- I installed the famous YOAST and configured it. It says there are no issues and that everything is working fine and that search engines have access to my website.
- uploaded the sitemaps created by YOAST into google... they have a red text that says: Can't fetch.
- in WordPress the option not allowing search engines to find the website is un checked.
Yet still, Inspect URL, AMP test, Mobile-Friendly Test , Rich Results test... all keep saying the same thing:
Page cannot be reached
This could be because the page is unavailable or blocked by robots.txt
Attached screenshot from URL inspection and Index request.
Please, can you help me with a possible fix for this issue?
Thank you very much!
Diana
