How do spammers find Wordpress sites to post comments?

Hi guys.

I've installed a fresh Wordpress on a hosting few weeks ago - fresh theme with just a few premade posts - and forgot about it for a while.
And now I noticed few unapproved pharma spam comments on those posts.

Could it be that this site was hacked/has malicious code in it (anti-malware scan and basic manual research show nothing, no suspicious outbound links too) or there is a software out there which can detect unindexed WP sites which can't be found via search engines and post spam comments there?

Thats how GSA/Hrumer works. It parsing sites, looking for similar to Wordpress engine parts. For example text "Post comment" or "Send". And spaming it

yep, I confirm. I just purchased Scrapebox 10 days ago and am currently harvesting URLs like his so I can get backlinks

Scrapebox is a beast, buy it, spend 2-3 weeks of your life to learn it, and never worry about backlinks or content ever again

Thanks, got it now. As far as I understood, someone was using that software to check if my site was auto approve to add it to his AAL, since those comments weren't approved, I can see them in admin panel only

Be aware that for some reason new domain registers are listed somewhere, I've could not find yet. Generally since most of the sites are WP based, is easy for bots to quickly check wp-login.

So you can get some perspective, I registered a domain, and in a couple of MINUTES, another guy registered both Facebook and Twitter accounts for such domain (I checked them both before I purchased the domain, but I never imagined anyone could do this that fast).

There are a lot of "footprints" that can be used to scrape all kinds of stuff. They simply run the footprints on some scraping software (like scrapebox). Wordpress footprints are very easy to find.

They use scrapers or bots to scrape the wordpress footprints on the internet. Don't ask me about the technicalities.

If the website is not indexed in google, then it's not scraped from there by any of the known tools,
it could be either shared somewhere else and/or one of the nulled plugins/themes caused this by sending the website url or posting the comments directly

I'm not using nulled plugins.
Could it be scraped, if this dummy-site shares the same IP address as my other site that is actually indexed in google?

Do you know of any tutorials or threads here on BHW that give an in-depth explanation of this technique. I've heard many great things about scraprbox, but I start to get lost when people start talking about using proxies and how to use it for backlinks and content. Thanks!

this guy explains Scrapebox in the best possible way. Been watching his tutorials for a week now and I'm starting to understand the (UNLIMITED!) power of this software:

And he is also present here on BHW @loopline in case you need more help (or you can ask him directly on his youtube videos, he responds there, too).

And you can also contact @Sweetfunny from Scrapebox support (or is this the owner of the software?? I don't know) also on this forum for even more help. From these 2 members and the tutorials on the youtube channel I've referenced you're bound to learn how to use Scrapebox. And once you do, you will never need anyone to tell you how to get backlinks or how to scrape content. But beware, the software has a steep learning curve for people like you and me who have no idea what proxies are (and yes, understanding how proxies work is probably the best, and absolute first step you need to understand about using Scrapebox because if you don't, you're gonna have your IP blocked whenever you use the software and you'll get pissed off that the "software doesn't work" when in reality it's your proxies' fault).

But anyway, one step at a time. And if you're gonna buy the software (you should!) set aside a few weeks for yourself to learn how to best use it, and also be ready to spend extra money on lists, footprints, complimentary services (proxies, captchas), etc because without these Scrapebox looks like a not-so-beautiful woman that dates you without wearing makeup... or something (I'm not very good with comparisons )

Wow! Thank you so much for the info. I will dive in to those videos immediately. I do know some basic stuff about proxies and what they do to mask your IP address, but in some cases you need to have an "open port 25" and things like that which seem to be a little deeper down the rabbit hole. Can't wait to check it out. Thanks again!
