Hello,

I need some help, the story is:

I made a website for my friend two years ago, bought hosting + domain name for him and deliver it, after a while, he decided to hire someone to improve his websites since i don't have time to keep working on it.

The guy he hired, will add his products and stuff since my friend is totally noob on this field. Unfortunately, that guy done all this on a new hosting, and he keep the hosting details for him self. Of course, my friend gave him the domain provider details, so he was able to change DNS to his host.

He called him and charged him to pay $500 for hosting renewal, instantly he called me and told me what happened.

I recovered the domain name by contacting the domain name provider, but for hosting, nothing i can do. Now i have only access to domain registar.

Is there a way to import the wordpress website without having access to the hosting? so i can move it to a new hosting?

Thank you

yes sure, you can use backup plugin for wordpress, create a backup , get a new host, restore backup using same plugin.

Cheers
Walter :)

if you can login to the wordpress admin dashboard, use backup plugins like updraft as told above
if you can't login, copy paste manually is the best option in my limited knowledge

Thank you everyone for the replies

I mentioned that i don't have access to the hosting details, forgot to mention that i can't access to Wordpress dashboard either lol

So the only way left i think is to make the website from scratch, and just copy and paste content and imgs, then change dns

If you have access to the WordPress admin area then you can do it using backup plugins like Updraft plugin.

If you don't have access then i think you need to contact the hosting provider and see.
You control the domain so hosting company may do something to help you out.

This is one of the best tutorials I´ve found on the internet...

Another and more hassle-free method to migrate an entire WP site...
A migration plugin review video from the guys at Brainstorm Force (The guys behind Astra)
I hope it helped, cheers!

You should scrape the contents from web archive. There are tools and services available to scrape them. First confirm that your site has an archive, and then you can hire a freelancer to extract all the information. This is not as difficult as manually copy-pasting all the content.

It's not a blog, it's business related, so it have only few pages, the problem is with the theme and blocks
Working from scratch is better, already done 50% of work

Thank you anyway

Any backup plugin should do well :)
