A quick question about backlinks

Hi, this my first thread here
I was reading on BHW and I saw this thread:

and I just wanted to know, does these kinds of backlinks have any benefits for my site? Are they effective? or maybe they will harm my site?

I just got one backlink from this site 2 days ago, but it's not indexed in google yet. When it gets indexed it will count as a backlink and might, or might not improve the rankings (1 backlink hardly does anything), but it definitely won't hurt my website. Or yours. Or anybody else's.

As long as the backlinks come from high authority websites (websites with 60+ DA or DR, whichever metric you prefer) and they are do-foll0w they are good backlinks

Based on your strategy. If you care for a very good and solid link profile you should avoid this type of backlink.

If you want a moderate link profile, you can build a few links to the total link profile. Maybe 0.5% - 1%.

It's one of those links that diversifies your link profile. If you are planning to get a link from it try to make it contextual.

Hi mate! Small doubt here.
If such DF link is not from relevant site, will it be any problem since it not relevant? Reason is, I'm having a blog in finance niche and the above link is from tech niche. So obviously these two are not at all related. In such case, is it better to go with it or leave it?

at the end of the day, a link is a link, so you should get it anyway... as long as the website is not penalized, obviously. And if it gets organic traffic, too... that's even better!

If you can, try to get the backlink from the homepage, or place it inside of an article that has at least something to do with finance. That's the best link you could get from such a non-relevant website.

Conclusion: go for it! (but don't expect to rank and bank due to this link)

Thanks a ton mate . This doubt bothered me a lot till now. And whenever I thought of asking this in threads I was little skeptical about how people will take it if this is not relevant. Finally I got it.

yeah, BHW is great. I've learned a good deal of interesting stuff myself

And take it easy with the assimilation of information. There's only so much info the human brain can take in before it collapses. Just one bit of info at a time, for years to come is the safest way
