I've read other YouTubers on here and other sites having the same issue of having their monetization slashed sometimes not even when they're demonetization but in my case, I noticed that my revenue from my channel got slashed hard after I got demonetized two weeks ago.
Here's the story, I was monetized back on August 5th, 2021, and I was demonetized a week later back on August 11th, 2021, and during that week that I was monetized my channel had grossed more than $3,000+ in revenue as I was capitalizing off the end of this year's installment of the Summer Olympics. To be honest, I was shocked that the channel was even monetized in the first place since it was full of copyright content that wasn't transformed for fair use in any way so I think it was an error to monetize my channel and probably a real human being had checked it and saw that the content shouldn't have been monetized so for me I knew I shouldn't have been monetized in the first place but I just took a chance on it with nothing to lose. Most of my content was in the Content ID copy claim method originally so I'm good there.
I originally thought after getting demonetized that I would at least get $3k in September but then I noticed the revenue started getting lower and lower everyday as it started at $530 and went all the way down to $86 and I was like what the hell is going on here out here? LOL!
It got slashed all the way down to $86 and has stuck at $86 since then and this sucks a little bit because that's not enough to cross the threshold unless I can get my new other safer channels monetized before the 31st to make at least $14 so that I can cross that $100 threshold that AdSense requires to get paid the following month. This was such a big kick to the stomach as you're looking forward to $3k and then see only $86. Such a big tease from YouTube to be honest but I've been in this business long enough to know that these types of things can happen.
I've been in a situation before honestly, where I was demonetized back in early 2020 after making $1.5k in December when I first dabbled back into YouTube after making a strong income from it for 6 years during 2012-2018 before their heaviest rule changes to date to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) mainly cracking down on copyright channels like the ones that I used to run. I got three strikes for using reused content from people who were strict about using their content without their permission. I had bought that channel for $400 to have it already monetized so I did not profit so that was a huge kick in the gut at the time for me. The channel shutdown days before I was supposed to have been paid and that's when I learned that YT will not pay you if your channel gets shutdown before payments are processed. They probably returned the money to the advertisers as they claim. I really think YouTube pockets that money for themselves but that's not the point.
I'm not sure what's going to happen in this situation since this is far different and the channel didn't have any strike trouble as it's still healthy just demonetized. I've heard that if you don't reapply then that money could be gone so I want to know from people with actual experience on this situation what happens when you're in this situation. This channel has a lot of videos that are important to viewers so I would hate to take them down as I'm willing to just take the loss and keep the channel running as is since I still got Content ID attached to these videos. Is that $3k gone completely or will they still pay it? Will they only pay that $86 or will it be $0?
