Hey all,
I recently had a string of 11 sites get hit with the japanese keyword hack (still trying to figure out the damn vulnerability that was exploited). I've searched and searched and hostwinds, even though the server they're on is a managed dedicated, i've been with them for over 7 years and have referred 4 digital agencies to them, is of little help and is just telling me to hire a security expert. They simply rolled back my websites for me and cloned the sites' post-hack public_html folders in case I need anything from them (they're still in my directories as "public_html-hackbackup", etc). Quick note: I have ImunifyAV installed on my server, its asking me to upgrade to cleanup the files. Is this adequate?
I'm looking through options and I came across a company called Astra that will lock my sites down, find the infected files and revert them based on my backup. They'll also contact google to let them know of the security penetration so my seo doesn't suffer. All manual. For what I need it will cost around $120/mo. If that secures an entire server that's fine by me, but has anyone else here used them, heard of them or a company like them or know any alternatives? Looking for some feedback before I make any moves but it seems to be my best option right now. I have Immunify installed in my WHM on my server - can I just do it with that?
My mind is absolutely twisted up trying to deal with this. I had wordfence active as well and they still got through. Seeing the emails of search console saying "New Owner for _____" has already cost me a nice monitor. Dipshit-bro-move in hindsight but dammit am I frustrated. Downtime is bad for business.
