How Important Speed Optimization Nowadays?

I had used many themes but could not get high speed on the site. Always Mobile speed was 50-60 and Web 70-80. Now I have used generate press themes and now mobile speed 99 and website 100. That's really amazing for me. What's your website speed? And how you could improve your website speed?

Actually, I have used many themes but could not get results. After using generate press it works. So this is not the solution for every site. I have more sites with a different themes. I would like to increase speed for those sites too.

Yes, I am using some necessary and SEO plugins. Not use the wp rocket actually. That's why I'm really impressed to see the results.

I too am using generate press. i wish I had made the migration few years ago. using wp-rocket + phast press for optimization

I am not surprise, GP is one of the highest and fast-loading WP themes you can get today.

And how you could improve your website speed?

Each theme/site is different but, in my experience, the website´s performance is generally affected by the same issues...

• Hosting - If your site is hosted on a crappy server nothing you do after to optimized its loading speed will help. The first priority is to get your site´s hosted on a fast and robust server in order to offer a fast response time to your visitors.
• Content Delivery Network (CDN) - Even if you´re targeting a local market almost ALWAYS will be a good idea to set up a CDN. This will greatly improve your site´s time to first byte (TTFB) and will also help unload some of the burdens to your hosting bandwidth
• Themes - I really hate the fact people like to spend money on multipurpose and overbloated themes just because they are feature-rich and, on top of everything, using a page builder to customize them. This is perhaps one of the worst combinations you can possibly expect.
• Plugins - Keeping the number of plugins to a minimum at the same time avoiding the usage of "site-wide" plugins are good options. Site-wide plugins are, for example, Contact Form 7 and RevSlider. They are called like this because once activated, they will inject CSS and JS to every single page on your site regardless of whether you´re using them on that page or not. So, keep the number of plugins small, be sure to use just the essentials, and don´t sacrifice appearance for performance.
• Performance Plugins - Personally, I love working with WP Rocket and Perfmatters. I found they work great together as they complement each other pretty damn well. Unfortunately, they are both paid/premium plugins but well worth their price.
• Page Builders - If anything, try to avoid the usage of page builders like Elementor, Divi, or Beaver. Instead, pick a theme with a Gutenberg block system or page builder capabilities. Nowadays are pretty solid options on themes like GeneratePress, Kadance, and Bricks.
• Images - 90%+ of all the sites I´ve worked on don´t have their images optimized for mobile devices. Nowadays, at least 2/3 of all the incoming organic traffic you will receive will come from mobile users. So, we have to make sure images are fully optimized to effectively fit mobile device viewports. Also, we need to think responsive now.
• External Scripts - This is often a very common issue. More and more webmasters are just abusing the usage of third-party apps, either analytics and tracking, pixels, messaging, marketing, ads, etc., without considering the impact the execution of these external scripts will have on their site´s performance.

Again, each theme is a different situation but in general, I believe this is a pretty good roadmap to follow if you´re looking to pinpoint what can be negatively affecting your site´s performance or page loading speed.

Generatepress all the way for me too. It wasn't my favorite theme, but I've moved most of my sites over to it to get the high scores - all over 95 but mostly 98's and 99's. One of my sites on Astra has similarly high scores. I use WP Rocket too. Tested Nitro Pack on one of my sites and wasn't impressed.

I am also one who made the switch to GeneratePress too late, however, better late than never.
Im quite impressed with it honestly.
Even using just GenerateBlocks, I am able to still make a visually good page and site theme without sacrificing speed.

i was a fastest cache user as well. decided to switch to wp-rocket because it assigns size dimensions to images, which wp-fastest cache does not. so do consider this.

i did notice ranking improvement once I switched to generatepress. specially once Big G decided to count web vitals as ranking factors

Speed is always important and its rarely a theme problem but lack of knowledge and bad hosting.

i did notice ranking improvement once I switched to generatepress. specially once Big G decided to count web vitals as ranking factors

Already finished one site, and can't really comment on this one
Since there was an total rebrand switch it's a bit harder to say(new fresh domains and such).
I decided to put that one first since, i was gonna be impacted regardless with the rebranding.
However, before the switch, i was dominating in some med comp KWs with like GSI PC scores of 60-70 and 30-40 on GSI Mobile.
After the switch, I kept majority of my rankings there and got even more ranked up to with quite a few kws with snippets .

I'm already started on the second site, probably 20% done there so it take another month maybe.
Migration of 100+ articles that was fully page builder is such a freaking pain.
