Ok, that title is just odd.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions on finding good, clean, untapped, virgin niches?

I've come to the conclusion that, while PPCing, I will not be able to compete with the big boys that have dominated most mainstream (mainstream meaning damn-near-everystream) niches with my puny $0.05 and .10 bids.

*le sigh*

Why doesn't someone just GIVE me some freakin money. Yeah, right. :p

Type in google

niche "forums"

whatever niche may be.
If it's a health niche type "keyword" in forum search function
and search archived threads and posts. Here you will find all
the problems people are dealing with and will give your brain
an added advantage to finding solutions.

Very basic idea, but I have gotten rich doing it :)
Any niche, find the forums. Social Interaction is the path to riches.

thats an excellent tip ruck! Thanks for sharing that, I gotta remember to use that one next time i go digging for something new!

Great tip! I've heard similar advice before (which I retardedly dismissed [did I just make up a word?]), but nothing as specific as that. That's why you're the shit! :p

You can blow your competition if

-you target a non im related niche. For instance, there is very often to see people in im giving away free reports in exchange for an email address, actually this market is so damn saturated.
I have tried to give away a free report in a non im related niche. To be more specific i gave away a free report about sat preparation. Everyone was excited to receive some material about sat preparation for free, because there are not many people doing this. I collected the email address of the students in exchange for it. Now i know they are going to go to college and i can market to them offers such as scholarship, college finders , etc..

- if you are not from us, uk, try to go and make websites for your home country websites and optimize them for search engine. I used to compete against big players in english field, so when i went and created some websites in my home language, and se optimized them, i was really amazed to find out that i can bring my website for almost any keyword on the top on search engine. There was so less competition and the traffic was still pretty good, so i guessed it is a good field to work on. It is very hard to compete against big players in english based marketing, but you may find that other languages are very very easily accessible.

Dammit man,

SAT Preparation? That's a good one dude. You have a great knack for niches man.

On another note, Nick is spot on when creating sites for countries. Since switching one of my niche engines over to translate in chinese, I have had a TON of search traffic from the Baidu engine. To give you an example, I had to put the site on a dedicated just because of the trends and expected growth. A good translation tool is like taking everyone of your pages and adding the possibility of it being displayed around the world in every language and having users being able to understand it.

Yeah, international competition is usually weak. the only problem is finding niches in international languages... because we dont have tools like overture :P

Well,

Normally I would not give this out but since I do not have sites
catering to this anymore, a great way into niches is really pay
attention to the certain foods of other countries. This type of
information is easier to come by than other stuff. A recipes
blog or something of that nature for other countries is pretty cool.
You can do batch blogs as well and run them on auto pilot such as this

China:

Chinese food recipes
Chinese drink recipes
chines spice recipes

So on and so forth. I don't know really how large this could be or how good, it was just an idea I had and if you can get into a foreign search engine and autoblog their feeds/results I bet you could set up some profitable food/recipe niches all running on autopilot.

NicheInspector looks like it may be a good tool to uncover some untapped niches. I was thinking of picking it up for that purpose.

great thread.. when I first read the OP message I was thinking about the old point of 'if noones selling it there's less of a demand for it'.. it's easier to dominate or compete in a market with active buyers than it is to develop a market and create buyers.. if noone is looking for this product how are you going to get them to your page if they don't know they should be looking for it.. time would be better spent looking for opportunities where competition is weak and not so advanced..

but the other posters in here made some good points and made me question that a bit.. it's likely worth taking both approaches and not investing too heavily on one side or the other.. just my 2 cents..
