Thats what I meant 600 would be twice what apple is planning on charging.
Mind you the frenzy for iphones hasnt diminished on ebay at this point - still selling at 600. Will drop off after the 11th I assume.

While this all sounds good (not trying to take anything away from the original poster) there is a MASSIVE issue with selling iPhones on Ebay and I know first hand the pain doing this. The problem is no matter how you lock your auction down to specific buyers there will always be a scam bid placed on these types of items.

I've had auctions end as high as $800 in amazement and found only to be disappointed by receiving a canceled auction bid from E-Bay claiming the bidder was a fraudulent bidder that had stolen an account. I posted the same 3 iPhones into a new auction a minimum of four or five times each due to fraudulent bidders.

I know this sounds confusing but this is the scam thats played on ebay...

1. A Nigerian or other Ill meaning scammer sends spoof ebay emails to unsuspecting and dense ebay users telling them they need to verify their account by clicking on a link and entering their user name and password. They do this and now the scammer has their ebay logon details!
2. The scammer now takes this newly found account with great feedback and bids on high demand items which can fetch high dollars in their country (the iPhone in this case).
3. They bid on your iphone and keep outbidding all users to ensure a win on your item no matter what the cost (as they will never pay you for it anyways they dont care!)
4. They win your item and you then get the email from ebay shortly after stating a fraudulent bidder has won your item and ebay has canceled the auction. Ebay apologizes for the issue and asks that you repost your iphone.
5. You then get an email from the spammer (a fake email) posting as ebay themselves and stating they made a bad mistake and apologize for the mix up and advise you to continue to work with the winning bidder!
6. You get another email (fake ebay email from scammer) stating they they are buying the iphone for their only sister in Nigeria and is for her 18th birthday. Typically they will mix in a story like she has cancer and they don't expect her to live long. So any help in expediting the order would be greatly appreciated....and they will send you cash in the mail etc. but you must send the item to them first.

I have fought with ebay on this many times and they just blame the scammer and will refuse to help you in any way as they typically always do.

Keep in mind also that a lot of very technology challenged buyers exist on Ebay and most of them will complain once they get the iPhone that they cant get their SIM to work...or they don't know what a GSM SIM is and dont have one (which is required to work with the iPhone) and now they want a refund or help fixing the problem.

Keep in mind that very nice "replicas" exist on the street (not the tacky ones you see) and are widely available for sale in which most people cant tell any difference between the real and the fake. I know sites that these are plentiful and come unlocked for under $250 shipped. Not saying these phones are replicas, saying to just be careful in what you get yourself into. Keep in mind there is no such thing as a "discounted" or "wholesale" iphone outside the occasional refurb apple sells once in a while.

Take the info as you wish and leave the rest...I would be interested in hearing if anyone is now having success selling iPhones on ebay as its been 3 months for me since I last tried to sell them.

Ahhhh, I see what you're saying Yeah, I'm wondering how much old overstock is going to be flooding the market, especially coming from all of the Chinese manufacturers who are still on a production schedule for the old phones. Could be an interesting time.

Thats an interesting scam. I'm done with iphones for now. Got scammed 2 weeks ago and again this monday. Wiped me out - and another person along with it. Made me sick to my stomach the whole deal.
All the buyers I had I can send to you if you want - they all were quite legit.

You can, and yes it does take 10 minutes to unlock and the software is free along with the directions on how to do it if you know where to look. It's actually easy enough for a 10 year old to figure out. The issue again is selling the damn things as they are very sought after by scammers on ebay. They make it so hard to sell that its not worth anyones time or frustration. Thats why I quit selling them.

Heads up though...the new iphone shipping soon cannot be unlocked as Apple has changed the boot code and locked the phones down again. It was well over 4 months time that it took hackers to break the very last bootloader version they locked down...I suspect it will take longer this time.

The profit margin is cutting close once you consider shipping and 11%+ ebay/paypal fees and shipping. I think they go for about $650 BIN. I might look into it more.

Are you in the US? How much are you charging for shipping/handling?

You don't actually need to have money to buy or sell an iphone.

Set up your auction, sell it, get the money in your paypal, go buy the iphone with your paypal debit card, unlock (it really only takes like 10 seconds now), ship, repeat...

I think it is and its hard to get a reliable iphone droopshiper out there

these iphones work on US only and dont include shiping price (your customer can pay for that) i might get iphones to sell worldwide but i need to ask my supplier

and, of course i am going to try this but since i need to order in bulk i will be able to receive money back if i am droopshiping for you guys

I am sorry to inform you guys that this is not going to happen, some people like the idea some people dont... anyway I had a really intersting chat with net brilliance and the outcome was that selling iphones on ebay became really hard

I am not sure about it right now but I posted this like 4 or 5 months ago when i was looking for some quick money... thanks to god i dont have to sell on ebay anymore to get a few bucks

Damn, selling iphones is so tricky. Ebay is quick to drop you, especially for iphones. The competition is tough and if you know what these assholes do, they go to your listing, and at the bottom of the page, they report you for having stolen merchandise and ebay has zero tolerance they will kick you out. Quick!
