What are Your Thoughts About Affiliate Marketing?

Hi all, I'm in a bit of a transitional stage of my life were I'm starting to realise affiliate marketing may not be the best way forward.

Although its good to make money, I can't resell to my website visitors.

What are your thoughts about it?

More and more jumping into it and its costing more and more money to maintain rankings.

I'm thinking about creating my own product or something along those lines.....

I prefer ad revenue over affiliates.

There are millions of easy to rank info keywords with huge search volumes in every niche that you can monetise with ads.

Most info keywords aren’t covered so it’s very easy to rank without links.

I actually think it's relatively easy.

All I do is go for low comp keywords, pay freelancers for the content at a cheap rate (not the best quality in the world), with a little bit of link building.

Few hours a week, if that, just uploading content and doing keyword research. Decent profit.

I do like the idea of diversifying with purely ad-based earnings though. Also want to find some lead gen affiliates, tried a few but I can't find a good one.

I know bloggers who worked on their niche blogs (affiliate marketing blogs) intensively for 3-5 years, then started to make a monthly profit of $20K - $30K and then sold blogs for $800K+ dollars. In any case, this is an excellent result as I see it. It is better to work hard for 3-5 years and then become almost an affiliate marketing millionaire than to go to work for 40 years and then receive a meager pension in old age. Therefore, it can always be difficult at the very beginning to make money with affiliate programs, but then when you see the first earnings, then it already becomes much easier.

Yes I agree, get an audience first.

A niche specific audience.

Then target the pain in their lives.

It's good for starting out, but in long term, it's better to build your own brand.

The best thing about affiliate marketing is you don't have the headache of customer service. Make a sale, collect your commission and move on. But at the same time your reputation could take a hit if you have a loyal followers base and the product you're promoting is sub-standard. It's a choice between building a short term flippable asset or a long term brand.

But I'd definitely agree if you have the time and resources to build your own product, you must go for it. I've been lurking around some FB groups in the niche I'm interested in to identify some problems that could be addressed.

In my opinion marketing affiliate products is easier than marketing your own product. Plus the investment of both time and money may end up being considerably higher in case of your own product.

Affiliate marketing is an awesome way to make money, but that depends on one's common sense, business sense, creativity, flexibility, etc, so obviously, like any other awesome money making method, it is not everyone's cup of tea. In affiliate marketing, one size does not fit all. One has to keep doing different things while doing things differently.
