full time income on upwork

Hello community,

After a long hiatus from work due to health issues I will try to get a stable income from freelancing before diversifying to other ventures.


I'll try to get consistent wordpress gigs on upwork, my target is 200-400$ websites that can be done quickly using a website builder like elementor

My account is approved but I don't have any reviews so getting the first gig will be a little bit of a challenge due to competition but I'm hopeful

I have 120 connects to spend on bidding wich I'll start tommorrow

If I can give you some advice, based on my previous experience on Upwork:

-Make a killer cover/proposal letter for every job you apply for. You can use some template, but make sure to edit and personalize it and most importantly read the job post for details and make your cover letter stand out.

-Get some low paying gigs early to get good reviews and earn "Rising star" mark. I've been on both sides of Upwork and I know that when Upwork recommends you, you have much higher chances of getting the job.

-Have a portfolio of your previous work handy. It's difficult to get a job if you have nothing to show of what you've done before.

Thanks I'm doing exactly that but I think the niche I'm targeting is saturated ,getting that first gig will be very difficult especially with the limited numbers of proposals using the connects system
