Hey gents !

Title says it all.

I have a blog.

Obviously some articles are more important than others.

Should my backlink target the root of the blog , or those particular pages ?

Thanks !!

the url you want to rank mostly.
You can also build some foundation backlinks from profiles, directories to homepage to increase overall website trust.
But generally - link to the page you want to rank

Thanks ! That make sense.

It depends on a lot in your linking profile. If you are starting from scratch, I would do a mix of both.

When I do linkbuilding, I always imagine that have a site with a some super awesome content or product, and imagine that people are actually linking to it because it's worth linking to. When you link to the home, think that you are linking to some "reputed" site that it's simply worth visiting (for example, when you say "go to amazon.com and search for that product" instead of "check this product: amazon.com/dp/1234567"

Basically, these are the basics of rep building, more logical than an abstract way of proceeding.

your backlink should link the page with the related content... It is a lets say “branded link” with your domain or brand as anchor then better to the home... If is the same but for a product, to the point the product.
just be natural links has to have a purpose, and is to let an user find more about what they are reading or discover new things... Bulk links on comments and unrelated or spammy sites are just ignores by Google now

Link from meaty articles that perform the best.

What I do is point them to the article 90% of the time, and 10% to the root, that way the domain root also has authority for the same keyword, but you definitely want to point them to the article with the related keyword to that same article.
