Hey guys can someone please guide me in my situation? I would like to rank for a keyword in separate international markets (as in different countries) for the same keyword. So for the sake of argument, we will use "blue widgets" These are all English-speaking countries.
Scenario 1: create one landing page (abc.com/blue widget) and build multiple links including local signals from (USA, Canada, England,) hoping to rank for these counties' visitors...
Scenario 2: create different landing pages (abc.com/usa/bluewidgets/) (abc.com/canada/bluewidgets)(abc.com/england/bluewidgets) and then build local links to these pages...
How should I do this??
Thanks for the help guys

you should try the backlinks for your sites based on the niche...

Why don't you just go for both :)
make local optimised pages and get them country-specific links,
you'll be optimising the on & off pages for these specific locations

Focus backlinks on your keyword and relevant niche. You should try Google Webmaster Tool

amazed at both of your answers. both are jr. vips! can you please let me know what does your answer has anything to do with what OP is asking?

@Ronnie Machio - if you want to rank for a particular country, than the associated page needs to have most of its backlinks coming from IPs from that country. at the same time be careful about not creating duplicate pages when you go down the road of creating country specific landing pages.

If the landing page content is same for each Country then use a single landing page and build links from all the local sites to this page. If you plan to create different content for each landing page, you can create country specific landing pages.

Backlinks & Local SEO Citations will help. If possible, use multilingual as well.

Good question... It depends on your resources... For example Airbnb and Pintetest did very well the trick of using different tlds to rank for every different country they operate.. But that may be very expensive if is an small site.

With hrerf langs tag you can let google know that each page you have is oriented for some country and language... So google can show your given option of the page based on the person searching

I then so what you said, create links and signals for each based on the target and add the href lang versions of the rest to each.

That's would be enough and more manageable... Of course you have the option also of subfomains for each country... It also depends if is just a page or the whole site

If I were in your place I would simply use or buy a domain name with this keyword "bluewidget" with any tlds. Build your wp blog or website. And use google webmaster tool, yandex tool, baidoo tool, msn to begin with. And wait for at least 2 months to get things going.
And launch a facebook page with same keyword, upload a video on youtube using this keyword.
And finally come back to ahrefs to check how your site is ranking.
You will be surprised buddy.
