Beware!! Keylogger attacks on the rise...

LOL the irony....when you download an antivirus off a warez site, you get a virus/trojan through that "antivirus".

You may want to install free "steroid" task manager (better than ctrl-alt-del task manager):

http://www.anvir.com/

Another advice would be to use System Restore (for XP/Vista/Win7) to restore your PC settings to earlier date. After you run the System Restore, sweep your PC for any viruses/worms/malwares with the latest anti-virus programs.

Just went through a 14 hour spool with this yesterday!

Here is what happened and what I did:

- Tried to download great software
- Knew it was too good to be true
- File was way to small (Should have been my first heads up)
- When clicked it totally disappeared
- Computer was totally F"D up
- Did a clean disk - my temp files had over 3GB of shit from my last maintenace last week
- Still not gone, ran virus software, deleted trogan virus
- Still acting up did a back restore = success!
- Blew my mind thought it was still there when in fact I was receiving huge windows updates.
- Installed updates
- Made sure my firewall was on

Presto, my computer is faster than ever!

Now do not get me wrong but I strongly think that this is my Karma for making the sexual virus comment above!

Just use a software like RoboForm, combined with KeyScrambler and no keylogger can get your passwords

you only need to remember the passwords of your email accounts and bank accounts, everything is not that important (just store them in an app like RoboForm)

and also make sure your passes are very strong, so you don't be a victim of bruteforce attacks

Keyloggers have been around for years and will always be. Things like keyscrambler and roboform do not work since most people save their passwords in firefox and keyloggers can just pull those password databases (same goes for IE btw). If I were you I'd be more concerned about your filezilla or other FTP passes because because that's how they can do serious damage to you. What they do is they put exploit scripts on your sites without you even knowing it which will try to infect your visitors with malware or whatever they try to drop.

You don't think Gmail, Paypal or whatever other big web company have some kind of anti bruteforce method implemented? Bruteforcing is retarded and no one does that now a days.

Keyscrambler does work because by default you cannot save your hotmail/gmail/paypal/bank password details to the Save Password form. The only details I save are forum accounts, which are essentially useless.

never mind all that, I have a question (for educational purposes only of course)

on the tv ive seen keyloggers in usb dongles. basically u plug it in, and away it goes recording all key strokes

where can i get one?

Great post, one of the best i seen on BHW.... as easy and small as those steps are, they can really be a life saver.

This subject is very interesting to me and I have captured a lot of information from this "Thread"

I wonder about one of the largest FACTORs, now with the rise of PROXIES and use of ... Many are now using. This has not been discussed or even mentioned. It seems like it is a ticket to say "here I am" and these are my passwords. One may use a proxy for privacy, however information will !!!! be stolen.

The sad thing is as computers are used now-a-days and for the 99% that use computers would not understand or even be applying any of these methods. Consider you family member (mother, sister) We understand the hours a user "MIGHT" spend Defrag,malware,virus,updates..etc. Just to use a computer, however with the internet now adds XSS,keyloggers...etc to the equation.

No solution !!!!!!, use many tools with computer to try to combat someone (hack3r) that is without a dough smarter than most 99% percent.

FRAUD IS EVERYWHERE. the best is to try to minimize lost because it will happen to 99% (abt.) of us although may not happen to BHW (reader of this). but warn your; wife, husband, kids, friends.

these are just my thought, even if they are unclear.

I use a free Advanced SystemCare system and IObit Security 360 and it works just fine.
It detects all the trojans, viruses and adwares and remove it.

A good keylogger will capture the clipboard, so copy/paste will not circumvent that. Also, some can be scheduled to take a screenshot every X minutes. Then silently upload all the data to an ftp server...

Pretty clever stuff, has come in handy a few times.

well, then I guess we should look very carefully at the processes that are running and end those that seem unimportant.

I think it depend on software which you use nd on person who use it. I use ProteMac KeyBag. I like it.
