Learning programming is worth it?

Well, I have always approached programming with this one thing in mind.

Programming is NOT something that comes to me naturally. But that being said, let's say I overcome the struggle and become a highly skilled programmer, crème de la crème, and get a job in one of the top global IT companies. How much money can I make there? $500 a day? $800? Not a dollar more, I guess.

Now, is $800 a day a lot of money? Sure. But I want more. I want $5000 days, $10000 days, and up, so for me, there truly is only one answer: entrepreneurship.

So, programming doesn't work for me. Nor do I like it, neither I would be ever satisfied with the money. YMMV, though.

A completely different perspective is if you approach programming as a skill to build your business with. In that case, it CAN work out nicely. But again, you need to LOVE doing it.

On a final note, understand that programming is not the only thing left to do in the world (despite what people might be telling you). There are HUUUUUUUUUUGE opportunities in fields other than programming. For example, one of such gigantic fields is media/content creation. E-commerce (as in simply "selling stuff online") is another one. So, in my opinion, if you don't like programming, don't force it.

Agree, 15 hours will suck the life out of you. So will coding stuff that you see pointless.

I set my avatar at the time I was posting that thread in order to bring an amusing fervour to it's viewers. I have not yet decided to update my profile photo. Dealing with the $666 part, that was a genuine screenshot from my phone. Opt to believe it or not, totally upon you. Wish you good luck.

No. Learn other skills which require lesser time and brain energy to acquire and allows you to make decent amount of money in the long term.

I'm a Moroccan learning a skill that require lesser time and brain energy that pays more than programming to get paid loads of money like an American so I can pay an Indian with more brain energy, time and who can program minimum wage on freelancing sites to program for me.

You get the feeling that life is strange sometimes?
