He just knows that I've been saying the same stuff for 6+ years, and he said that I've put way more money into the internet than I've gotten out. I've lost plenty of money spending on various products, ordering off of those said companies you said, buying bitcoin and losing it gambling.
For the vast vast majority, and he knows this, people are just consumers of the internet. For the very few, they carve out a special way to make money off the internet, and some don't last. Many blogs fail.
This is why he said it, and I respect everyhtin ghe says.
He also says he hopes I prove him wrong that I'll be successful this time running a blog and getting online income that can support me in being a digital nomad- but I do respect that it's generally near impossible.
I've been reading marketing BS for 15 years and I'm still at square one.
I think this is why I made this thread: the moral of the story is you have to start somewhere. You can aim as high as you want but if you don't have a plan for how to not fail within a certain time frame, then it's just not even worth it.
For me I've spent the entire day writing ONE article, and I'm still not even close to half way done. I've got probably over 1,000 words if not more, and it's going to be a conclusive article on a keyword that's extremely easy to rank for while also being extremely high volume, and my site is already ranking for the keyword because I use the tool in my music production and drive traffic from the site.
For me, if I had spent the last 15 years, no, 6 years since i've known my friend, writing a conclusive blog post on an easy to rank high volume keyword like this, I'd have well over 1,500 excellent articles written by someone who is able to put their name behind it as a brand. Those types of articles don't go anywhere, and google loves them. Google's machine learning algorithm wants to appear human- so if you put your personal brand and name behind your articles it'll rank.
So I've decided to write about stuff that I can put my name behind. I'm less than a week in, and I'm already gaining way more traffic than I could dream of, even if it's only 100 users off of direct linking- but google already has it in the search console engines.
So for me, I'm ready to prove him wrong. It's one article at a time. Once I'm blue in the face, I'm doing the following:
- Finding competitor articles and reverse engineering their backlinks to do outreach to replace their links with my own.
- Encouraging the sharing of my content by answering questions using my links when people have questions on forums, quora, elsewhere
- Asking people to do guest posts on my blog, and I do guest posts on their blog.
- ... and more outreach stuff
After I'm blue in the face from outreach and built up a nice network of bloggers and influencers in the niche I've just written loads of conclusive well-researched keyword/topic articles, I will:
Create sub-sites of my own, link to my main money site,
all with original content. Smaller articles, less conclusive, but perhaps targeting more long-tail keywords.
For these sites I can pay for cheap content as well as long as it's decent. It doesn't have to be branded in my name necessarily, though it can size me up as an authority by referencing me often.
After I do a bunch of that, I can go back to my main authority branded site, and focus on the following:
Creating authority content that is
extremely shareable content, utilizing the traffic in my niche to create organic backlinks
ALSO build an email list of bloggers in my network to try and find ways to easily outreach for more links with authority sites.
FINALLY:
Running ads to my articles as well as
Native content ads to my articles to continue to grow my blog
So basically, once again, my formula for success I don't think I can fail unless I'm rich and just don't care at this point:
- Content content content content
- outreach because i'm exhausted and it's easier
- more content on satellite sites/web 2.0's, but real content, some hired authors some not
- more outreach when i get tired of this
- create the highest quality content that is extremely shareable and authoritative
- run ads, native ads as well
done deal. let me know what you think
