I am creating international content and I used to recive great amounts of viewers from USA.
But over the time I've seen that I started to get lot of more and more viewers from my own country.
This is messing up my CPM.
I now see that my channel location is changed to (my own country) and I got the option to change it to USA.
My question is: if I live in UE and I change my channel location to USA would I step on any YouTube Partner Program rules to lose my monetization?
1. it is safe to change
2. you will not lose your monetization.
3. changing your country on your channel settings will not guarentee your content will be recommended to US audience.
i have tried/tested all these things.
if you make content that is indian and change your country to USA, algo can still identify the content type and recommend to Indians and not US viewers, so its recommendations will override your country settings.
iso country in settings is not a factor.
algo suggestions can be targeted but is also randomized a lot of times.
you usually dont have any control over algorithm recommendations. it is totally randomzied or upto how google has programmed it to recommend.
now even people who make US content , dont always have their content recommeded only to US audience or tier 1 audience.
they usually get a lot of tier 3 viewers too, who are low cpm.
now in most cases, US type content creators mostly get US viewers, but i've also noticed an issue where when you make a lot of money, yt can screw you anytime if they want to.
example happended to one of my friends who was getting 75% US viewers on high cpm content, which gave him way better overall cpm.
he was making good money for several months, before algo suddnely decided to recommend his content only to tier 3 audience and it also reduced him cpm in the process and destroyed his earnings.(he did not change content)
after that point he just gave up and went with new channel.
