Why am I slipping off page 1?

I seriously cannot figure out why is my rankings slipping off page 1.

- I am not penalised as I have some keywords on page 2 onwards
- My PBNs remain the same. If I drop domains, I will refresh it with new ones, similar stats.
- None of the PBNs are de-indexed or plagiarised. All with fresh content.
- I am using Surfer SEO and have tried to incorporate more keywords without it losing sense.
- Page loading speeds are within the surfer seo legit limits.

Seriously, I just dont get it

Google might be ignoring your link, not penalizing but ignoring. Also check your web vitals.

I've seen a lot of sites with "best' lists fail since they've just ripped the content from Amazon listings and reworded it. All the better for me though since I'm heavily involved in the niche.

The same goes for reviews. I've found that thin reviews that have gibberish in them ok previously high ranking sites have tanked hard.

Could be the update if not wait and see what happens for a week or more if no improvements happen or you can't fix it yourself then pay someone like David Harry or Craig Campbell to fix it for you .

Not low quality per se but lack of backlinks in general.

My site got hit and it's not affiliate site. I noticed competitors on the first page have higher stats than before. Mine and similar got pushed down.

I started building new links recently and so far it has positive impact.

In this circumstance, backlinks may not impact the result so much. First, try to add more information content around your best type of posts. Use Cluster or Hub module to increase information post for your best poss.

Second, do internal linking to best posts from its cluster posts. Third, create some quality backlinks according to your competition's strengths.

No, rather branded ones to the homepage.

Also, check your internal anchors. Having too aggressive internal ones can hurt almost as external ones these days.
