How Fast Do Articles Rank on Older Websites?

Anyone can share what's their Ranking Timeline on a site that is out of the sandbox?
articles on brand new site will take 7-10months to start ranking at the top 3 positions for not really competitive keywords.

I have a year old website now that has plenty of content ,ranks good,has good traffic and is out of the sandbox.
I have posted a dozen new articles in the past days and to my surprise, they are all already ranking in positions 8-12 for some of their main keywords- only after 1 or 2 days of them going live!
Was wondering how long does it take for articles to go to the top 3 positions for a website like this?

What's your experience?
Also, for Those who have even older websites, where do your articles land as soon as they are posted and how fast do they climb to top 3 afterwards?

All comes down to the overall authority of that website. Articles gain better position as they age.

They reach their maximum age ranking in around a year since they were indexed for the first time.

Whether your keywords can reach top 3 position from 8-12 depends on the authority of a domain as I have already said, but if they can reach it, they will do so within 9 - 12 months.

By age alone of course, discounting any offsite SEO.

Haven't really owned aged domains
But I'm seeing a decent indexing rate for sites that are 1-2yr old.
I'd say, 5-6 days to show up and 7 months to hit the peak.

It really depends on the domain authority, link profile & keyword difficulty more than the age itself,
For an easy keyword with a good domain, you can rank easily within a day or even less,
For a competitive keyword, it takes longer, around 1-4 weeks to settle in some position

It all depends on the competition and of course the backlink profile or better still the authority of said older site. A site that’s just old without any aged backlinks to go with it would definitely be treated as a new site unless of course it has had some quality and optimized content for that long. A site with such content for long would gradually attract some links(and authority) over time, this would definitely influence the ranking speed of newly added content.

What about a site that’s 9 months old? most of my contents been published the past 4 months. I had asked that before and some people stated website content age doesn’t matter, just website age.

Seeing results with SEO usually takes from 6 months up to one full year (even for experienced SEOs). But it can also take longer because it depends on very many factors. Of course, it can also take less. There are very many high-quality websites there that are poorly optimized for search.

Nevertheless, in my experience, yes older website can rank just in few hours / day to rank, based on what niche and competition. New site always need time to rank. Need at least 8 month in most of my site.

The main thing if you want to get your website soon within the top 3, your site keywords and promotion of your sites to the public...when more people visited your site, ask them to provide the feedback of your site and if they give the good rating your ranking of the sites will be increased.

Generally, the older your website and the more ranking content it has, the faster newly-published content will rank.

Of course, this is not ironclad.

There are always going to be some exceptions.

For example, suppose your site got penalties or the backlinks are spammy.

In that case, newer content might still have some difficulty getting out of the Sandbox even though your site is already out of the Sandbox and has decent domain authority.

I'm sure the content will not stay long in the Sandbox compared to a new website, but there's going to be a delay there.

Generally, the rule of thumb is the older the site, the more authority it has built up over time, and the faster it would rank with newer content.

The 800-pound gorilla in the room is the keyword target of the new content .

It's one thing to rank and find yourself in the guts of Google, but it's another to rank well and find yourself in the top three results.

The best way to do this is to hit low-hanging fruit.

I'm talking about niche-specific keywords that your competitors, for whatever reason, wouldn't want to touch.

Maybe Semrush, Ahrefs, and other SEO tools say these keywords don't get any traffic, or they don't have any information about it.

Whatever the case may be, you rank much faster if you target these low-hanging fruits, leading to even more domain authority for your website.

It hardly takes 2 to 6 month to rank an article. It depends mostly Domain Rating and also low volume keyword rank faster than high volume keyword.

Low competition keywords are the key, especially the ones with top results that are not optimized. It takes a bit longer to research (not just looking at KW difficulty from SEMRush or other tools) but actually looking at results, related search terms, etc.
