Twitter changed my phone number?

I've asked about this on Reddit, to no response, but I'm wondering if maybe there's a person here who would know more about what's happening to me.

So, a month or two ago, Twitter asked me to verify my identity by inputting my phone number. Which wouldn't be a problem, except the number they're asking me for is very much not the phone number I had associated with the account; it ended in 04, and now I'm getting "Hint: Your phone number ends in 00." Which, I didn't even know phone numbers could end in 00. I figure this is because the phone number I was using was a throwaway one, but I've never had them just... change it.

Contacting Support about this has been a drag, especially considering I no longer have access to the email associated with the account. It's really such a minor thing, but I'm also minorly losing my mind over it. Like, it just so weird.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Does anyone know what that number ending in 00 could be? Is there some sort of default phone number websites input when yours isn't considered valid? (It's not ten 0s, btw; I have tried that.) I can't find anyone talking about this problem, but I refuse to believe it's never happened before. It's just too weird. Any help would be really appreciated.

You Might have put that Number while Registering and after you verify a different Number Twitter so according to the First number which you put was in the system and somehow. A Twitter system using it to verify with Provided cell number..


Think about this if you had done this for any reason iF yes then you got answer of your question

Nope, it's always been the number ending in 04, ever since the start. I've never even seen a phone number ending in 00 before.

I mean, that is why I'm asking. I don't know what's happening. I have never given them a number ending in 00; I have no idea what it could be. It's some completely unknown number that, somehow, in some way, replaced the actual number.

My options at this point are "guess what that number is from the infinite combinations it could be," "magically make intercepting texts remotely a thing that can happen," or "Twitter Support actually works." All of these seem equally impossible, which. sucks. idk.
