Can i Rank For Multiple Keywords With One Domain ?

Hi mates,

i have a niche site with a .org domain, it got the exact keyword on domain and it's in the first spot for it's keyword for months now and the thing is that this keyword brings me only about 30 visits a day and i want more !

so my question is can i rank with this domain in other keywords ?
i made alist of 9 keywords 750-1000 exact searches per month each and i'd like to build links around each one so i can get traffic from other sources and not only from the keyword the site is optimized for .

so my question what kind of on page SEO should i do in order for this to work ? should i write a new post for each keyword and put all the keywords in title and tags and description and stuff ? and what should i know before start doing this ?

and overall what do you think about the idea of ranking for more than one keyword and not only one ? because i've never tried it and this doamin that i'm talking about is my first success in talking a domain to the first spot

Yeah you can rank for multiple keywords. As you said, a good way is to create a page for a keyword with the keyword in title, url, on page, etc. Then build backlinks.

Just get backlinks pointing back to your site where the anchor text would be the keywords that you desire to rank for... also sprinkle some of these keywords in the content and some LSI keywords as well...

Yes it off course about that I was talking about, but you need to consider adding some backlinks pointing to inner/deep pages as well, so engines won't see you backlinking as to spamy, then it will appear natural to them

I don't think you really need to build links to inner pages if you don't want to. Majority of backlinks to websites are to the home page, and from there the link juice and trust is spread out to the inner pages. Linking to a inner page will help that specific inner page to rank though.

Yes you need, if you have page with 1000 pages and you build links only to homepage, then it will raise some flags at google for sure. They expect that people naturaly link to the content of your website, so if your content is good the they won't link just to the home page, they will link to the inner pages as well.. You need to think natural to get some good results...

You could rank for other words as well. If you include the words in the page title (towards the beginning of the title is better) and in the page name you are much more likely to get ranking for the specific words. You should also add the words in the meta description and on the page it self.
I have ranked 2nd and 3rd for popular words that were not in the domain name.

You definitely want to link to your inner pages as well! This is the only way to make your backlinking process to look natural.

Use a wordpress blog:
Make categories and pages relating to keyword.
interlink all the pages with keywords (one keyword anchor linking to another post)
Linkback from high pagerank sites with anchor text to keyword optimised page.
