Don't follow old advices. Things are changing fast and we need to wait until the end of this month to understand what kind of pins are ranking. Until last month, you can easily rank pins using followers, re-pins & comments. Now, June 2021 update targeted parasites and kicked many pinterest pins out of first page.

Regular SEO methods are still working for Pinterest. You can try creating account with kw as profile name, stick to a niche and post all pins in that niche, optimize description for SEO, optimize your keywords etc. Most of the ranking pins are shuffled after new algo. As I said earlier, we need to wait until the end of this month to see exact ranking parameters.

No I don't. I don't need any. It would make sense that it would help.
Just like ranking websites, you get backlinks. Or ranking Youtube videos, you get views/likes/comments. Ranking Pinterest pins, you get repins.
Of course that's a very simplistic way of putting it, it goes deep. But if there's 50 ranking factors an algorithm takes into account, the amount of repins a pin has has got to be one of the factors.

I'm waiting for the dance of the devil to end. The kws I'm monitoring had the ranking pins shuffled 3 times this week. At this stage, whatever we say will only be a wild guess. I need 10-15 pins stick to their rankings to study their ranking parameters. I wouldn't recommend anyone to get into pinterest at this stage. Wait until the end of this month and I'll give an update.

Yes... Pinterest has many factors and they are constantly expiring. He became the smartest at the end of 2020. I have been working with him from 2016-2017 and the last 8 months is hell.

Yes... Pinterest has many factors and they are constantly expiring. He became the smartest at the end of 2020. I have been working with him from 2016-2017 and the last 8 months is hell.
It didn't come to a halt yet but I'd give you the pattern I've noticed.
Initially, it was repins. The pins that were shared by most users ranked better.
Next, it was video pins. Videos ranked better than images, but it didn't last long.
Later, it was backlinks. Pins with most backlinks ranked better than the others.
Currently, it's collections. Collections created by users are ranking better than personal boards.
I think Google is testing user intent based on pins. If I'm not wrong, they are just collecting data by shuffling search results by preferring one parameter at a time. After some time, they'll rank the pins/boards which are getting most impressions.

At this stage, creating boards with the exact keyword name and making some backlinks is working fine. If you have Google News approved site with some authority, then creating a backlink from it will have good results. Otherwise, just 4-5 links from DA/DR 30+ sites will have better results in comparison to tens of low-authority links.
