I have never used PRStorm before, but have read a lot of posts here in regards to it getting there site banned from the SE's, losing there ISP, spam complaints, etc. Others though have said if used properly, like not over doing it that it works well. This is just a what if, I have no intentions of even trying this...You collect every PRStorm URL list you can find, run them through a URL checker and pull out the dead ones. Load them into PRStorm, along with a good list of working proxies (big list, not just a few). Submit like crazy for day's on end to whatever website, in theory this should hurt there rankings I would think. Not to mention get them a shitload of complaints. I am not for doing shit like this, just have seen people before in the past about killing there competitors rankings. This could do it I would think...

steves,
You're right. A technique like this could potentially get a competitor sandbox'ed or worse, but fair warning; a lot of people on this forum get extremely upset when you mention techniques like these. I suppose it's because you never really know whose toes your stepping on when you're using these kinds of techniques.

I understand that, and as i said I would never use this technique. However, it could be one answer to the question of "how can I hurt my competition". One of those, use at your own risk techniques. I am about sharing information though, and this is a BH website where a lot of techniques are on the "shady" side of traditional marketing.

Oh, I completely understand your intentions, I was just giving you a head's up that some people might take offense.

Techniques like this do get members of this forum including me upset. What is strange is that cookie stuffing doesn't. As far as I am concerned cookie stuffing is stealing money out of my pocket.

I know a guy who works for a huge online ticket broker. The company was penalized pretty badly from google for buying text links, and some other shit. After their rankings started to drop people started to get laid off. Were talking about a multi million dollar company here. Now what if it were a competitor that caused them to get dropped off the rankings in so many good keywords? I understand this is blackhat world, but since when has blackhat meant scumbag? Your talking about taking food off a families table, not jacking a few sales on ebay.

There are somethings you have to put yourself above, and I think this would have to be one of them. Maybe when I was a little younger I would have been able to justify something like this to myself, but after being in the real world and knowing just how much damage you could do with something like this - I would say it's not a blackhat method, it's a scumbag method.

never used prstorm before.. but sounds like the technique is similar to google bombing..

You're pretty much right. This method would work because sandbox'ing is one way that Google responds to certain kinds of Google bombing.

Why to struggle to hurt your competition? Will that bring you more money?
Why not just achieve better results, and overtake your competitor in means of success?

Which way would you have more fun and profits?

I take the approach of working on my site or sites to better there ranking, not taking out the competition using this type of method. It was just a question that I wanted feed back from everyone else. I have 3 kids of my own, so I am in no way interested in hurting a company to where they start laying people off. I would rather spend the time and resources on my own sites then trying to kill another sites ranking, so once again this was just a discussion I brought up to get some feedback from and at the same time inform people who have asked this question several times in the past on some insight as to why not to do it.

I understand why you would think about that, because lets face it it would be a whole lot easier to bomb your competition then to actually do some SEO and build backlinks. However I would not do it, Karma is a biotch.

Now what could be done to prevent someone from doing this to your website? This will give me something to think about through the night as I will probably not be able to sleep until I think of something. lol

I really don't think there is anything that can prevent anyone from doing this to you. Kind of sucks doesn't it.

As of right now, there really isn't much that CAN be done, but, as these programs become more widely used, their footprints will become easier to discern and therefore ignore for the Google algorithms.

What could you do to prevent somebody stealing your car or painting a graffiti on your beautiful house?

If you can figure out any of these, you may have also a chance to figure out the answer to your above formulated question.

I'd give you a hint: you may set up an alarm system by subscribing to Google Alerts that will notify you every time Google finds some new sites using your keywords.

You may set up this monitoring for your website main URL, for your name if it is not a very common name, for your main key phrase, etc.

Alike an intrusion detection system, the above monitoring won't prevent anything bad to happen, but at least you will get an alert at an early stage, then you can decide about what action to take before the conditions would worsen.

In my industry, I was having competition playoffs between fellow site owners. Then I lost it and decided to play nasty... What I did was approached them and said "I cant work with people from xxx and you cant work with people from yyy, so here's the deal, I'll send you mine if you send me yours".

Now I make an extra couple of thousand a year from doing absolutely no extra work. Each client of mine = around $500-1000.

That said, we have a great community here equipped with ALOT of knowledge and tools to rip the opponent apart and highlight how you can easily beat them with your own site.

wow, this is really worst technique that you can do for competitor

Depending on who the competition was i would use this tactic...

...Whatever your game, becoming the best you can be with no dirty tricks is always the way to go.

As you rise up the greasy pole and make your way to the top, you can take pleasure in seeing your competitors fall at your feet, while the frosting on the cake is watching them run around like headless chickens trying to figure out what 'illegal' methods you are using and in the meantime, you are totally relaxed and can sleep at night safe in the knowledge that there is nothing to find other than your skill, expertise and hard work.

Worth the effort? Hell yes...Everytime!

I had thoughts of doing something like this towards one of my competitors. I got one that is trying to do everything they can to hurt my business and they have used some dirty methods but they just doesn't know how to do it right to fully succeed. Still I have lost several possitions in the SERPs due to them.

The only reason why I aint doing it is that if I can't get them out of the market totally they will probably get even more agressive if they drop out of Google and I have no guarantie that they won't step up a notch and try to hur me even more to try to get up in the SERPs again. The problem is that people with little knowledge who try to do these things is unpredictable and if they see their competitors outranking them and specially if they drop to page 30 or so the chance is big that they will work even harder trying to hurt every competitor to get them down as well. It think it's better to leave them as it is and hope that they hur themself even more in the loong run then they can hurt me.

But it has been tempting to spam Google and forums in a bad way with their domain name ;)
