Got MS Office Account as a review copy from OP and it worked smoothly. Was able to login to the account and download the setup, install it, and then login to the apps using the account received.

I received one of these email accounts in return for a review copy. It was a really smooth experience from beginning to end. @krishnaverma also sent me the instructions on how to log in to the office and everything went smoothly.
My opinion is that in the end, everything depends on what purpose you need the EDU email for, as upfront you don't really know to which school it will belong (at least I didn't know).
The email account that I received was from a community college in California. It was perfectly satisfactory for the purposes for which I tested it (Office 365), but if you want to use the email for another purpose, such as pretending to have some particular education, you have to ask OP if he has some specific universities you are interested in on hand.
