This is why people have to invest time into building good relationships within your primary family unit. You can’t rely on friends in most cases, heck you probably can’t rely on most of your immediate family, but if you manage to find a few decent people in your family, go out of your way every time you can, to make those relationships grow! It might be only 1 person, a parent or a sibling. Go all in on it and treasure it. This is the kind of capital that is very hard to get and takes years, sometimes decades to grow and you can’t just buy it. If you have no one, start a family and make that person your partner or your child eventually. The last thing you want is to count on strangers or government for help.
People nowadays get estranged because they spend too little time together. They are forced to leave their homes early and if they have siblings that are younger, those relationships are never given a chance to grow, which is a terrible waste of something that can’t be replaced! Then they spend 8 hours a day at work and another 2-3 hours commuting. That doesn't leave them with much time left. Everyone working for a different employer also further divides the family. If you can, come up with a family business or at least a hobby where as many as possible take part regularly. This could be something as simple as a weekly dinner (you have to keep in touch!)
An ideal setup is internal loyalty, cooperation, socialism if you want a spicy term (do keep it meritocratic when it comes to business decisions), but external aggressiveness and competitiveness. What is good for the family as a whole, is good for you. Family first, then everyone else and ultimately, there should be no authority above the family – what you decide is law above any other. Work on that and build generational wealth, it is the only wealth worth having, but only if you have loyal family members.
