Free or paid courses?

So I am atm deciding to make a course for my niche, but should I make it free or paid? It is going to be a long course with lots of information.

I have heard about that free courses are taken more and spreads it easier to other people to try it. So my option will be to add a donation button instead?

Or should I just go with a paywall? And what price would I offer for this?

I just don't know what the smart move is going to be...

Free version would be great to capture emails.

However, that free version seems like and overkill.

A smaller course highlighting a tip or two from the main one would be great lead magnet, after that converting people who already signed up will be easier.

Hmm seems like a decent idea, but free version can may be get me a better authority in the niche? I know the biggest guys in the niche that can promote a free one but paid probably not.

If you don’t want to make money from it, add a donation button. You will only get pennies.

What? Depending on the group you target. If they are 18+, you can charge insane amount of cash if you deliver the actual value. It can't just be some rewritten stuff from the internet.

Of course I understand that, but my goal is to educate people in this niche and want to be able to help a lot of people.

If I am going to charge for it I am not going to do a huge amount anyways.

It is actual value because noone explains it well enough.

Then you should take donationa and things like amazon smile, where people do what they do with no more effort but you get a piece.
also it is easier to advertise it on publish0x or whatever website that can get you tips...

You put your blood, sweat, and tears into making a good course.
Don't sell yourself short by giving it away for free.
Make up a good video that explains the benefits of taking your course.
Then find a good lead magnet to get them to view your video.
Collect their email address when they register to view your video.
Don't give them the lead magnet until they watch the entire video and click on a link.
Charge something for the course so you didn't waste your time or money by making it.

Prefer mostly free one for basic content. This will attract more audience so that they will notice your uniqueness and your level of content video. By doing so, they will share or recommend other audience also.

But your efforts are also should be pay off
So maybe just set not that high price..

Giveaway the first basic lectures for free and then do a paid section with more detailed information.

Make a mini course that is free, advertise it, promote it, let it establish you as an authority in the niche & then when enough people consume that course, offer them the monetized course. Price it according to it's value, how much the people who will take the course benefit from it.
Also you can offer different sales like black friday, christmas sales etc to lower th eprice & get more people who want the course but cannot afford the initial price.
Get yourself a good marketing funnel & a strategy & it'll be all good.

As someone mentioned a long freebie really would be overkill.

Really what they need is a small Win. One pain-point. One Solution. And you have yourself a warmed up pre sold buyer.

Now people do love a Paid that they got Free.
Some people do keep a Paid Sales Page live for that reason.

If you think about "The Launch Formula" it is free content appetizer that every knows is leading to a high ticket lobster or steak.

It all depends on many factors and there are lots of tasks that should be completed before the launch... Do you already have an audience ready to buy? What is the price of the course and is your audience ready to buy the course for that price? What tests did you do on your own or someone else's audience, which showed that this topic of the course is interesting to them? There are still many questions to be answered here ...

Its a niche that has a lot of people willing to learn it, there are some competitors pricing it at 64,50 and its selling like butter, I am working on the course slowly probably launching it next year because I want to make sure everything is right.

And yes I have interested buyers already. But I don't want to ask a lot so probably going to be 24,95 or 49,95.
