Our website got a DDOS attack on our website for two days. We purchased Cloudflare and try to stop the attack. However, the hacker challenges us and says he had 320k empty sites that could link to our websites which can't be detected by ahref.

Seriously, this can delete us from GOOGLE search results and end our business. Is there anyone knows how to handle this? we need help!

Has anyone here received the same blackmail and I am wondering if he is bragging or this would really work. Any way we can protect ourselves from this kind of attack?

I see.

Yes I can probably handle it

This attack would not hurt your ranking. Don't worry. Google knows these attacks.

Just keep the site safe from DDoS & Hack.

even if they are not detected by ahref you still can detect them via google webmaster and ask for disavow links

Mate Google is not stupid. Google hate spammy backlink, but no person is stupid enough to get 300k spammy backlink at one time. So, Google will ignore it.

"Empty sites" im assuming you mean spam/porn sites right.
Google knows about junk spam attacks and they have mentioned time from time again, they are smart enough to somewhat understand between NSEO and SEO.
Keep your site safe from DDOS and being hacked, ignore the guy who is blackmailing you.
If you know where he came from, report them on that community.

Thank you, guys! Greatly appreciate your replies! Now have confidence!

I've experienced this on a clients website and Google as others have stated
ignored it and as a matter of fact most of the links fell off naturally.

if they didn't ask for ransom then they are your competitor, and they are trying to derank you
about the 320k links, he is BS ing you, if he knew how to derank and deindex you he would have done that instead of a ddos

it is not that Google isn't smart, it just doesn't give a fuck, if ur site deranks or gets deindexed there are thousands of sites which can replace you
for the most part, don't worry about it, most people who try this stuff don't know what they are doing and spam links are extremely ineffective if they don't know what they are doing

I would agree fully with you on that.

It is probably a competitor or possibly a general jerk.

i hope you get over this soon. it is pretty a dick move to ddos a competitor. May I know the niche that you are playing in? do you have a feeling which one of your competitors might have done this?

Don't worry about this. Google is smart and will totally ignore bad links. You are safe.

The only way a website can be deranked in 2021 is if Google imposes a manual penalty. They can clearly see the difference between you doing something sneaky and common known attacks. These days you don't even need the disavow tool. Google ignores bad links rather than penalising you. This is a very fair system and you are well protected.
The only reason anyone would really need to use the disavow tool is if you have over optimised your keyword anchor text on legitimate websites and blogs.
The other result of these types of attacks is sometimes they have the effect of actually ranking you higher. (Why?) Google can see this as a possible competitor attack and as a result they will poop on the attacker and award you with even higher rankings! Funny huh~!
