Mine is a blosgpot blog, I created 11 years ago. Still live, does not bring much revenue though.

As Google is not taking a new application to include in the News tab in Google search you might be hearing less about Google news. But Old Google News websites have huge potential for Affiliating and driving more traffic within less time.
 
Nearly 10 years old! birthday coming up soon :)
 
I have one from 2014 but it was heavily penalized in 2017. I still kept it up for the memories.. and who knows maybe 1 day the penalty will be removed

Have you not tried to remove the penalties? Maybe it might just be content penalty. Try getting someone to go through it, an audit might help you out.

Old google news sites are hard things to find these days. They can be very effectively monetized and turned into a great source of income.

My first blog was back in 1998 that was created via Frontpage (A discontinued Microsoft HTML editor) with affiliate banners promoting a discontinued advertising network called "Spedia" where I got paid $30 but technically was never to cash it out since I had no bank account back then since I was too young to open one.

At that time, I was ~13 years old and a big fan of "The Backstreet Boys," which I created my blog around.

My blog is still live till today =)
