Alerts showing old threads I have already read

Next to my private messages icon in the forum there is the bell icon with alerts. It used to show all the topics that I follow that have new replies and only those.

Now it also shows the threads whose notifications I have already clicked on and checked out. It doesn't only show the new ones I have not clicked on yet.

It worked before but has been broken for like a week or more at least. It kind of defeats the purpose of the function because I want to check out only new posts but if it shows the older, already read threads with no new updates to them it just wastes my time.

I guess there is a bit of misunderstanding. I DO get the notifications, they are on. The thing is under the alerts it also shows the threads whose/which new posts or comment reactions I have already checked out via clicking on the alert notification from the menu.

It should remove the old alerts if I have interacted with them but it doesn't.

I actually answered this today in another forum feedback thread. I'll quote my post below so you know why this happens.

I found the issue.

All right, so whenever a moderator moves a thread to a subforum you're watching, the forum sends an alert out regardless of when the thread was created. It's because, as far as that system is concerned, the thread was 'just started' in that section.

As an example, this thread here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/n...s-that-may-can-get-potential-traffic.1321882/

That thread was moved to the Want To Buy section on May 18th, so the forum sent out an alert to you since you watch that subforum.

In regards to the thread by @Mr Positive, that thread was accidentally moved to the Jr. VIP Lounge, a subforum which you're watching. I moved the thread back to the lounge, but you got the alert for it, anyway.
