Why so much people still using Skype

Just because it's the old one that has stayed till now and still competing in the market has lot's of features for free. Age and brand value has been top notch for years. I personally don't like it but have to use it because the potential client asks frequently can we discuss over skype/skype call.

A lot of people at work use it

Why? If there are many analogues ....
I stand with you. Do not understand why people still use Skype, beyond reason "cause everyone else is"

Since Skype was taken over by Microsoft, it has been lagging behind more and more. Just like rest of their products.

But that's where the key lies - Microsoft. Because they are very strong in OS market, it's easy to use that. Users get started with Skype and keep using it. Especially older generation then just sticks with it. Also big companies that make bespoke deals with Microsoft and then enforce using this for work communication. Teams has been taking a little bit of the share here, but not much because Teams is a dumpster fire. So Microsoft users opt for Skype.

That's my two cents

I dunno really lol. Perhaps people resist change? It's an ancient software that nobody needs on their devices.

I really find Skype to be extremely inferior to discode in every singel way. Ugly layout and color scheme, I hate it :D I do love discord though.

For me, old habit dies hard (As for Skype). Though, Telegram is rising fast, I think Skype will still be preferred by a lot of IM'ers over the next few years.

Ditching usernames was a bad move for Skype.

you guys don't understand anything...

Skype is where the real party is :)

Especially sausage party

If you would like to start using an IM app now, for most people Skype is not the first, which comes to mind, but it was for a great while.

Old habits die hard, i guess. If someone's in the business for a while and used/use Skype to connect with others, the contact list can be huge. It's a pain to move to something else. Some people still use Skype only, so if you would like to move to a different IM client, you either lose that contact or you need to use two IM clients simultaneously, which can get chaotic.

I thought Skype was going to die years ago, branding is just too strong

It's still good to use it, especially if your friend has no other way to communicate but only on Skype.

Are they? I don't know anyone that still using it. It is not safe at all, everyone can get your IP address. I'm avoiding everything that is Microsoft related.
You are doing right , I agree!

In Skype there are so many useful options, we can share the screen etc..if you use the Skype regularly, you don't go with any other messenger.

41 million people disagree..
41kkkk use it by inertia, like I did in my time.

Skype users is like old office director (That using something that works and don't want to change anything) , doesn't want to use anything new...

True... screensharing is only available on skype and it's one of the most important feature for a team, very business oriented

All these options are in the discord.

Because businesses use Microsoft products throughout their business, and when talking with business clients, you don’t ask them to download a new interface or switch how they are doing business, you meet their method.

my current company uses Google products, email, slides, drive, messaging... I wouldn’t ask someone else to use a different platform just because I don’t like it.

but this is my experience in $billion+ business world, and you work WITH them not ignore their preferences.
