My domain name is a 5 letter made up word that sounds like something, example: iCHEK dot com.
We are a saas that helps specialists in our field ... to CHECK stuff. (lets say).

For over 15 years there has been this small mom n pops shop named, example: iCHEC dot com.
They are... specialists without software but in the same domain.

I can buy their dot com from them at 2500$ USD.

Free SEMRUSH shows that they have:

143 backlinks, we have 1800
12 authority score, we have 14

12 keywords they sometimes get traffic from with our money keyword in the top 20 to 40 positions,
ours has 441.

Our site has been live, in the same domain since 2011, Their since 1996!!!! same owner.

So:

1. Should I buy?
2. If yes, should I revamp their site and make into a blog, and backlink to us? Do a simple redirect?

Any advice, or further (FREE TOOL) analysis I can do?

I dont know much about parking domains, but I had my eye on one that was close to a service site I used. I could have picked it up for $10 or whatever the Godaddy price. I hesitated and now I see it listed by a reseller asking 1 million dollars. If you dont pick it up someone may come along after doing similar research as you. This domain I had my eye on actually was a better spelling than the primary domain!

One word domains with decent spelling are harder and harder to come across. Lots of these were claimed since 1998 or so when I check the history.

I think if alike another domain the owner of the primary site may be interested. In reality though one domain may not be a hit, but there is massive upside sure.

Id say though since its a premium domain you are looking at I would be much more hard pressed to drop $2500.

Can anyone share more of their expert advice on this, or even just a simple opinion?

I don't think you should spend $2500 on it. Maybe $200/300 max.

You can spend your $2500 on SEO elsewhere and get much better results.

What SEO package would you suggest?

...and have you taken into consideration the brand value it would add to an operating business with the same sounding name?
