Finally the hockeystick growth!

Google puts a huge emphasis on time and authority

google puts a lot of emphasis on money because it's american company and americans have only one saint: the dollar. The more dollars, the better, even if the entire mankind drops dead and the planet implodes. What matters to most american companies is profits, profits and even more profits.

And if this sounds like a rant or anti-american propaganda to you then let me tell you that 2 months ago I did keyword research in the weight loss niche for one of my websites and I came across websites taking the top 5 ranking spots of google for dozens of important keywords and absolutely all of those websites ignored all common sense rules that google brags about. The URLs ranking positions 1-5 were all full of popups, 100% ads and affiliate links above the fold, videos autoplaying in the background, broken URLs and all those things that google tells us to not have on our websites because they don't make great user experience. Well, none of those websites (such as The Cosmopolitan, for example) were abiding by google's rules and they are ranking and banking as we speak. But hey, they're american companies, so they are filthy rich so they can be excused from all thee algo changes. The rest of us can go to hell. And no, I'm not waiting one year for google to recognize my website just to roll out a core algo update 11 months into the waiting period wiping out all of the work I've done for 1 year, and rinse and repeat each year.

Welcome to the google lottery

But if you don't do it for the money and genuinely want to help people with your site it is worth the wait.

Sorry that you are unlucky as hell...
Hopefully better luck next time.

oh, I am doing it for the money but that's because I have none. The mobster google, however, has had 146 billion dollars revenue last year, and with this money they could re-forest the entire planet, create living conditions for the middle orient and afraican countries that have been affected and so much more. And they could also make it easy for me to get delicious traffic and rankings in their search engine at the expense of the filthy rich websites and companies dominating the rankings. But that's not google's intention which is exactly what I condemn

I 100% agree

I got some ecom sites, and the ones that use google ads are suddenly in 1 week of existence on the second page.

don't tell me that it's not rigged...

I'm not :)

They are a publicly-traded company. Of course, it's all about the ol' mighty dollar. Capitalism, amIrite? Now, I get the whole theory that pushing the "little guys" out increases ad revenues. If you look at Adwords percentage to revenue, it's steadily risen since 2005, to the point where 2018-2020 saw 70% of their revenue being generated through Adwords alone. I don't want to get into all of the nuances as to why this is, but it's not all because they pushed out the smaller players (i.e - increasing the amount of ad space above the fold).

That being said, Google makes very little revenue on organic, so besides what I mentioned above, they have little incentive to give shitty organic search results. More so, they have an incentive to NOT give people results that are advantageous to what they deem as "low-quality". You can thank years of people gaming their algo with low-quality nonsense. These filters are built-in more for quality purposes (keeping out spammers), rather than keeping out the smaller players.

Also, not sure why this is a uniquely American issue? We aren't the only country that puts profits over people, nor the only country that uses Google's search engines. But this is a whole other debate.

Purely anecdotal.

they're pushing me out of the rankings, and not because I'm a spammer (I've been an advocate for quality for more than a decade), but because I'm a little guy who doesn't have money to spend on powerful backlinks or to pay for ads. And you don't have to excuse them, they are not as innocent as you make them out to be.

As for the american companies who are evil part, well, I have yet to see an european one (or even a chinese one, although I have a suspicion that chinese companies are as dirty) who is chasing after profits to such an extent that they destroy lives and the entire planet along with them. Sure, if I ever hear about such a company that is not american, don't worry! I will shit on that one, too, even if it's a Romanian company (I'm Romanian). I don't give a shit, they can all go to hell, no matter where they are from. But american companies, ironically, have the monopoly even in this. People (and life in general) are more important than hoarding obscene amounts of money. If these rich mother fuckers came together and decided to split their 1000s of trillions of dollars they're hoarding between each citizen of the planet we would all be better. But instead, they're hoarding the money in their bank accounts or downright in the basement of their mansions while even people close to them live and die in misery.

Anyway, this discussion is kind of pointless cause I can't do much about the whole situation, but lately I've made a passion out of hating on the rich and you can't change my perception. So let me be!

Ok, a bit to unwrap here. First, I'm not making excuses for Google. I'm pointing out the facts. You can take it as you will, but going through my post history will tell you that my relationship with Google has always been a contentious one.

Second, we're all "little guys". As a guy who sells links on this forum, but also does SEO for fortune 500 companies, I can assure you, no one here is the "big guy". A few come close, but no.

Third, again, capitalism isn't strictly an American "thing". I don't want to devolve into other issues, but many 3rd world countries use child labor and have shit labor laws. Where is the outrage there? Our system is nowhere near perfect but still exploitable. Again, a whole other conversation.

cute! But I don't consider people who have $5000 to spend on SEO little guys. And there's plenty of them on this forum.

Little guys are people who can barely scrape $10 from wherever to afford a domain name and free hosting hoping to make $100 a month to put food on the table. Those are the little guys, and google doesn't like them. If they did, they'd shed the rich off the rankings and rank... well.... little guys :)

And I'm not getting into capitalism debates (whatever the hell capitalism is) cause I'm not good at politics... and I don't like it anyway. But I judge life from angles other than political / economic systems or philosophies. And life is simple, really. The filthy rich make it complicated by hoarding big chunks of cash. Life - in my amazingly wise words - means: if everyone around me is happy I will be happy, too. So, let's make everyone happy. If this "philosophy" falls within capitalism, socialism or whatever, I don't know, nor do I care. It's the point that's important, not which system that point belongs to

Again, you're conflating "rich" with Google. It doesn't work that way dude. Rethink your thought processes.

No matter what. Google always be a gamble.
