it helped one of my websites improve the rankings last year when I've purchased fake traffic from fiverr for $5, but not by much. One week into the traffic campaign running and a couple of the keywords went from page 6 to page 2 or something like that (I don't really remember the exact numbers and pattern), but after 1 month - when my traffic package had expired - those keywords have reverted back to their initial positions.

Logically, fake traffic should work if it's done right (coming in from sites like reddit, facebook, forums, paid ads, etc.). I mean, these sources are very legit in google's eyes and if you can find a way to get fake traffic from these sources that doesn't look like fake you can clearly deceive even the almighty google, as I have clearly done last year. But you will probably have to do it continuously, and it probably works only up until a certain point. Probably that once you reach page 1 of google based off fake traffic alone the ranking factors change considerably and authority, relevance, strong backlinks and content quality play a much bigger role

It was used to inflate Alexa rank back then. Absolutely 0% effect.

CTR manipulation works if it's done right,
go for it if you're targeting competitive keywords with low search volume,
wouldn't have much effect for mass volume keywords since you gonna need a lot of visits to make an actual impact

Real traffic helps from social media, paids ads etc but not fake traffic

I won't recommend you! Get high quality backlinks to boost up your site

No, if it had every idiot would just spam there sites to death to rank wouldn't they? Here's a better debate.. does junk (low paid vas or whatever) traffic that searches for your keyword or phrase, then searches through dozens of pages to find your site and click through to it.. have any effect on rankings? Many here claim it does, personally I don't think it has any effect.

Yes but you don't want to go that route by cheating clients
Yeah but i can see how agencies use it to pump up visits just a bit, if the engagement is not the goal

It is not really visible to do it like 5-10%, clients would not notice, and for agencies on long terms it can bring nice boost

Just saying, not saying its ethical
