Hi everyone! So I'm currently looking to buy some backlinks to my site. I'm wondering what qualifies a "good" backlink. I know that anchor text, etc. matters. But
What I'm wondering is how do I determine if a website is good to buy backlinks from or not? Do I look at the DA, traffic, etc?

Only thing I would add to what MisterF said was keyword rankings on things like Ahrefs or other software can give you a better idea of how good backlink is sometimes.

I'm personally looking at traffic overtime, I want consistent traffic increases over a period of years to essentially demonstrate that google likes the website. Any crashes in traffic is a red flag, stay away. This is most likely a penalised domain.

Next up is outbound links. Link juice is real, and sites with tons of OBL's don't offer too much power. This is why solid PBN's give you a backlink on their home page and limit the amount of outbound links.

Next up, wayback machine. Anything dodgy happening overtime with the domain?

Anchor text ratios. If people can't manage their anchor text ratios properly in accordance with the penguin algorithm, I want no part of that site.

Referring domains - Obvious one, powerful RD's with no spammy sites. Especially any Japanese or Chinese backlinks.

Backlinks overtime - I avoid sites that have significant increases in backlinks at one point in time, this is clearly unnatural.

Note: Please make sure you are using tiers for safety if you care a lot about your site.

For guest posts & niche edits, i would check

• tier 1 and some tier 2 links
• check if the website is ranking for any med-high difficulty keyword(s)
• silo structure of the website and where your link gonna be placed

a website with traffic doesn't make it a good one necessarily, many websites get a ton of traffic by targeting trashy & low competitive keywords,
The same goes for metrics as they can be easily manipulated,
so checking some keywords difficulty that the website ranks for will give you a better idea of how good it might be

Reputable in the sense, higher the page rank and social proof
and finally relevancy plays a vital role, being natural and socially authoritative, it should be placed in the highly related page or site so that google follows and approves the ranking signal called relevance between domain and the page.

All your metrics will be fulfilled if you concentrate on the reputation.

It is great that you are trying to get backlinks because it makes your content trustworthy. Not all the backlinks are of equal worth. Good links come from a site that is related to your page content and which is trustworthy. It is better to have a descriptive link rather than a "Click Here" link from a qualified site. A backlink from lengthy content is more valuable. The SEO metrics to be considered as important are Domain Authority and Page Authority. The traffic of the site is also important to consider.
