I have a WordPress blog that is almost 10 months aged. I got some pretty good and valuable links and I want to build them to my blog. Question is, how often should I build? Is there any "spam limit" to pay attention?

I spent too much time on my articles and general SEO works, so I don't wanna loose any ranking by mistake. Thanks for helping.

it's not per day, it's per month.

For a 10 months old website I'd go with 3-4 quality backlinks (guest posts on relevant sites that get organic traffic from google) for a few months (2-3 months for example) then increase the number of backlinks to 5-6 per month for the next 2-3 months and so on, until my website started ranking. But that's me, other people might have other experiences, but that's what I'd do...

How fast did your site grow? And If not special, which niche was it in? My blog's niche is technology and software, so It's hard to rank. Also, let's say, I go with 10 quality backlinks rather than 3-4, will my site get banned from search results?

Pretty effective way @tazarbm shared.

What you should look at is top competitors and what their starting velocity was.

Branded profile of a homepage has much higher limit than money page will for example.

I only have around 10 sites currently and they are all lingering between pages 6 and 10 for minor keywords (they're nowhere for the main keywords). But that's because I don't have money to move them up the rankings because quality backlinks are too expensive for me at the moment.

But they got to where they are today with poor backlinks (profiles, web 2.0s, a few .edu backlinks, etc.).

The niches are:

- self improvement
- arts & crafts
- technology
- education
- health

I see, I'll try my chance too, thanks for sharing your experiments.

5 to 10 quality links are enought.

Per day or per month just like @tazarbm said?

no problem!

Regarding the backlinks, stop thinking of them in terms of "per day". Your domain name doesn't have any backlinks yet, if you start giving it 30 backlinks per month (so, even just 1 backlink per day) all of a sudden it will put you into a temporary sandbox that will make it harder to get out of . Had you already acquired several 100s of backlinks by now already you could get 1-2 backlinks per day without issues, otherwise you are risking it. I'm not saying that you will definitely get sandboxed, but why risk it?

I see. Well that's logical. It's better to start slowly like you said and increase slowly. There is no reason to risk it.

As long as they look natural you can proceed to build links regularly as this is 10 months site. Make sure to have good anchor text diversity. Once you notice rank improvements you can increase the pace.

Alright got it. I'll start building now and when I see an increase in my traffic, I'll start building even more, and so on.

It's better not to risk it because it's easier to just increase the number of backlinks if the current number is ineffective than being labeled as spammer by google and not be able to recover at all.

Anyway, I've started to repeat myself and I hate this :) .... The main point is that you shouldn't risk it, and I'll leave it at that. What you want to do is up to you ultimately.

Good luck, either way! Take your site to the top of google and steal the delicious rankings from the top brands cause those companies are so big and fat that they can't even walk anymore for how fat and saturated they are with cash :)

I agree with that.
BUT in any case you can control yourself on this matter.
And if someone decides to "help" and give you more links - I'm afraid no one can prevent them doing that.

Their saturation with cash holds them at the top, BUT! Nothing is more valuable than hard work! Right?

...pls?

Anyways :D Thanks for your wishes and informations. I already started building my links! Slowly and surely...

how many doesn't really matter,
you can build 1k a day or 5 a month,
if you need to consider something about building links it must be the quality of these links and the consistency of building them,
keep adding the same number of links and rise the number progressively,
how much you build does really depend on your budget

...if someone decides to "help" and give you more links - I'm afraid no one can prevent them doing that.
well, yeah, but there was no point in telling the guy "hey, dude, you can't control anyway what others will do to your site, so you'd better start screwing your site from the get-go!"

sadly, it's true. But there's only so much money one needs to live happily on this planet. The bottomless greed of some people is what ruins the lives of others, that's why I want to see the filthy rich lose money.

What? NO WAY! Where did you get the idea from? :)

let's say some celebrity, well-known company, government launch a new website,
for example, tomorrow Elon musk makes a new coin and create a website for it,
how many links would you think such a website will get? will it be penalized?

avoiding a large number of links in a short time frame is not really required if the links are quality ones,
consistency is the second rule in such an example,
so the number doesn't really matter if you focus on both the quality & consistency of building links

um, yeah but he's not a celebrity or the government :) ... And google can put 2 and 2 together to find out if someone runs a promotion instead of building backlinks.

if it's easy for google to find out about links built, why bother releasing new updates to fight spam,
you're overestimating it dude
