i have been sending pay per call leads to a local company for leads to do with

window replacements
double glazing
builders
house extensions
conservatories
roofing & roof repairs
loft conversions

they have a lot of work on anyway so are not desperate for the work.

how much should i charge them if it is done on a percentage basis of the job amount ?

because i have been doing pay per call for a while , but not in these fields,

the calls are very good & they know this, but they also know they are not desperate & just took on a
load more employees because of work they were getting anyway before me.

anyone got an opinion ?

It all varies, how much money are you spending to get this calls? And how much are they getting in profit for those windows and all that stufff?

Don't do percentage of job it's a headache.

Stick to charging per call.

i dont do adwords, i just do seo, but its very time consuming to get the calls in.
i do have monthly costs though to take account of.

windows, basic repair job £200-£500 , window replacements - £800 - £5000
most jobs - sort of £1200 (very very rough price)
just a very rough guide, but im also going to be sending them calls soon where the jobs are £5000 -£20,000
thats why i wanted to do it on a % & not per call, because to get the same amount per call i would have to charge them a very high amount & they just would not understand that - when they are getting referral & recomendation calls for free, they definitely want the calls, but we both dont know what % to make it.

but if its on a % (which they also said they wanted to do) when they are getting a job they dont mind paying a % of the amount for the job.

other tradesmen have said the opposite, that they would not pay a %, but those same people dont want to pay for any marketing at all, most local tradesmen are very small minded - i have noticed that a lot.

i agree with this 100% for local seo, or any pay per call, especially local seo, for 1,000 reasons, but mostly because they try & f**k you over 24 hours a day.
but i trust this company as i know them personally.
monthly amount is even better for local seo. if they cant be bothered to answer the phone then its still the monthly amount.

but these are for quite high value jobs, & as i said above, if it was a comparable pay per call amount then it would have to be very high because of the sale value & they would not understand how or why they could pay this, so a % of the job value would be better for both parties, as long as the calls are being converted, some of the jobs later would be £10,000 & a % of this (however small) would be a lot more than any pay per call rate.

Yes I understand mate.

I just hate the whole trust thing.

You could loose good friends if you start to suspect your being screwed over.

Unfortunately, greed is the human condition.

With pay per call there's no suspicion of being screwed over.

You might not make as much money but you will stay friends.

ok, thats a good answer, the previous ones werent friends but every single one tried to defraud you one way or another, some a little bit & some a lot, but these jobs were/are a lot higher value than others so i thought % would be better, because it would be impossible to work out a monthly amount because we wouldnt be able to work out what it was worth until it was going for a while, & every one ive done before - after doing it for a while along comes a job thats 10 or 50 times bigger than the average job, & pay per call would have to reflect the high value of the jobs & they would not understand that, % seemed to be the most sensible option.

Sorry, I didn't read carefully...

Back in the day when I was selling web design, I use to charge 15% of a sale, and the designers were really happy. My advice is that you go with like 20%, and then go down to 15%.

ok, thanks, but i dont think thats the same thing is it ?

with construction type jobs, the jobs are very good because they are high value, but they also have to go out & do the physical job & employ people to carry out the work, to get the job they have to price it up to get the job & compete with other quotes, if they get the quote wrong & it takes twice as long to do, or they encounter cables or pipes that they didnt know were there (whatever) they might have to pay a lot more in labour costs to finish the job.

ive got 10% & 15% for local seo sites, but on the larger jobs they can make more, but might spend a month doing the job & not making as much money as they thought & then still have to pay me.

so i was looking at 5 or 7 or 10 %, probably 5 or 7 %
but thought i would ask here to see what other people had charged & still had the client for a long time (a lot dont usually last that long, just the nature of the whole thing)

another thing as well, local construction companies (all the ones ive come into contact with) have LOADS OF WORK, because when people were under lockdown because of covid 19 people were getting their houses done up, and now lockdown is over all the pent up demand is going to the builders etc.

so although they like the calls, they have loads of other work, they just took on a load more people to do the work they had anyway.

i dont think i would get away with 20% unless it was my own construction company & i dont know anything about that type of thing hardly.

You need more data.
Their average profits? Service charge?
What are your costs?
