AMA: I make 500/m from POD

thanks for sharing your knowledge with us

What POD providers do you suggest (for beginners)?

RedBubble.

1) What's the 4th platform you use?

Spreadshirt.

2) Experiences with Etsy?

Haven't worked with the platform. Very easy to get banned.

3) Use a software to list or manually?

Manually. Lot of grinding and monotonous work.

4) Listings distribution on all platforms

My situation is a bit confusing and complicated to explain. Let's just say they're equally spread out across Teepublic, MBA, and Redbubble.

- Is Redbubble still worth it? (scammers everywhere, I can't get sales anymore)

The sales aren't that great compared to MBA. But I'm still getting them.

- How you do keyword/niche research on MBA? What's the best FREE method?

I've explained my approach in previous posts. With MBA you want to find keywords with not a lot of listings that get sales. Low competition low volume. How do you find them? Manually. It's not easy.

- Do you recommend jumping on Etsy? (I think it is a great platform if you can find a market gap)

Sure. I just don't have experience on it. My first account got banned preemptively. I have a second account running but I haven't used it extensively yet.

so you've spent 6300 before getting 500/month... after how many designs you were you able to support yourself by using revenue and not putting in the money yourself?

I don't have the right answer for you because I haven't thought in terms like that. But if I wanted to use just solely the revenue to invest back into the business the answer is right now. 1500 designs should allow you to be put in a position where you can just use the revenue for investing back into the business.

Glad to have helped.

"Merch by Amazon, Redbubble, and Teepublic. These three are worth spending your time on. "

Why these 3 in particular?

Can you share them here please?

Revisit my content about using social media to find ideas. I don’t use any tools only manual keyword research.

Why these 3 in particular?

Those platforms in my experience make money.

I pay 4 dollars a design. You can find people to do your designs on upwork or even on here.

1577 designs across four platforms,

1577 designs x $4 a design = $6,000+ (expense)

Don't understand what are you talking about.
Please elaborate.

whats the best way to tag redbubble products ? do you make trending designs or evergreen ones ?

My focus is on evergreen designs. However, I’ve been missing out on trends like holidays. This is why this month I’ll be uploading designs targeting holidays specifically.

Tags are an art. Think of your design and find related keywords to said design. So if it’s “4/3 people are bad at statistics” then the tags would be: math, math lover, statistics, 4/3 people are bad, stats, funny.

Those would be tags off the top of my head.

Thanks a lot OP this AMA is great.

How many of your designs are illustration based compared with text based?

And which sells the most, your very elaborated designs made by seasoned artists or the more simplistic ones?

All of them are text designs. Some of them have basic illustrations in them.

All of my designs are simplistic text based designs. I don't sell elaborate designs made by seasoned artists. I'm sure they make great money. Just not me.

OK thx OP. Do you rely only on the platform's SEO or do you push external traffic?

why do youa ssume he paid for all of those designs ? he probablys tarted making them himself 500$ a month is not at a level where you can be a diva about it and outsource everything

Which is a better way to use tags?

Cat, cat lover, funny cats (3 tags)
or
Cat, lover, funny, cats (4 tags)

Can you tell us please how did you get accepted into MBA?
And did you get accepted in the first time?

I rely on the platform's SEO. I do not push external traffic. I've been meaning to do a teespring store but procrastination is getting the best of me.

Which is a better way to use tags?

First option is better. Just think about keywords that might draw your customer into your listing.

Can you tell us please how did you get accepted into MBA?
And did you get accepted in the first time?

I have two accounts. The first one I got in via the application process. Then it got banned for unrelated reasons. The second account I bought from someone else and it's been live ever since.

Hello !
I tried to create a redbubble account, but after 1 or 2 uploads (old videos games logos / cd cover box) i get systematically ban (x3), like in the 10 minutes, btw other users have already upload this game logos without problem, do you get any advice ?
Is it a bot protection or duplicate logo protection something like that ?
Thanks a lot !

I strongly recommend you to avoid anything that’ll get you hit with copyright infringement. Your account is née and will be scrutinized more closely. Make designs that don’t involve getting banned for copyright infringement.

Why don't you use your own website?
