Overwhelmed but ready to learn

Hey from NZ.

What I lack in SEO and lead-gen skills I make up for in research skills, so I'm excited to get started with this forum.

SEO subreddit brought me here.

Nice! There is so much out there, I still get overwhelmed every day, but I also learn a little something every day. Best thing is to try and narrow down your focus and read the new threads in the topic you are most interested in. For example, right now I am most interested in Cryptocurrency and YouTube, so I read all of the new threads posted there each day. In addition, I read about 5-10 more threads that show up in the main home page every day.

Overwhelmed is normal when you are new in this world. I can't remember how many blog posts I read about ppc, seo, youtube seo, email marketing, chatbot marketing, reddit, fb etc etc etc... and finally you start to understand this world and create a map in your head about the essential things you need to understand.

PS: get a very good understanding of marketing and sales as a whole and you will thank me, these skills will help you in all the steps of your journey. it's SKILLS..

SEO, PPC... traffic sources in general... are channels.. they are the medium, not the holy grail.

Yeah completely agree, I'm in the middle of building a startup and being concise and narrowing focus is hard but like you said it makes it a lot easier.

Awesome advice. I'm thinking a good step will be to find a visualization or a mind map of the above and how they connect together. I'll have a look on here and reddit.

Marketing is super important for sure. Once you find something that works, duplicate it and scale it up. There's a lot that goes into SEO, and it can take a while to wrap your head around it. Best of luck!
