Ben Askren vs Jake Paul this weekend

Are you joking?

You do know boxing is still one of the most used fighting styles in UFC right?
Wrestling is the most dominant martial art in MMA. One can become a champion without ever fighting standup just off of grappling. Ben Askren has never knocked anyone out but was still undefeated for 10 years and became champion in 2 major competitions.

Wrestling / BJJ are the undisputed winners no doubt with boxing being a close 3rd, however, there are MANY fighters who still do boxing in MMA and Ben fought many of them.
I can promise you he fought boxers who hit harder than jake paul does and took far more hits and still managed to stand.

Punch power is highly genetic so who knows, all I'm saying is fair play to Jake Paul, he can fight for sure.

This comment didn't age well
Yeah lol :D

Ben was hit waay harder in mma i cant believe that Jake knocked him down. And yeah, that was a knockdown not a KO. The ref stopped it early but still Ben shouldn't let that happen either.

Jake got him good, but it should of been ruled a knockdown.
That ref needs to retire.

What about Oscar De La Hoya's commentary though? LOL

I'm on the ropes about if it was a good stoppage or not, when the ref checked if he was okay and let him go Ben wobbled towards him, I think the ref assumed that he's a beginner or something.

Sure, I mean, I don't personally think he was wobbling that bad, but if the ref assumed Ben Askren is a beginner, in my opinion, that's just another reason why that ref needs to retire.

But what about Oscar De La Hoya's commentary? lol

Askren really can not box lol, guy looks like he didn't train a week to get ready for the fight. and Jake Paul is decent, has good fundamentals and can box.
Still doubting whether that first round KO was fixed or not though.

I thought it was a bad stoppage but after watching it again, Ben was rocked / jelly legs! It was a one-sided affair
