I don't want to be political but that meme is just part of russian propaganda, did you ever ask yourself why would a country want to join nato or host nato military base? Maybe what they did in the past has something to do with it, as i live in an eastern european country which has a nato military base on it's soil i can tell you, the main reasoning/justification is the russian imperialism. After the end of ww2 they took half of europe captive and imposed their red cancerous ideology called communism which even now after over 30 years since the end of that sad experiment people are still affected.
Just look at Russia after the end of Soviet Union, they started war with many ex-soviet countries just to keep them under their sphere of influence, if you need examples just look at Moldova/Georgia/Ukraine all of them being some of the poorest countries on this continent, on the other hand look at the former communist countries (Poland,Romania,Bulgaria,Hungary,Slovakia,Slovenia,Czechia and the Baltic states) they all started developing after they moved out of Russian sphere of influence.
The whole fear of russian agression is fuelled by russia's past and current imperialism, they should learn to live with this as they are pround of their history of both Russian Empire and Soviet Union.

By the way guys, to be a little bit serious in here: If you really want to know what's going on you should read the book of Mackinder "The Heartland Theory" and even Adolf Hitler wrote about it in his biography "Mein Kampf". I am not sure if you are aware, but Hitler for example wanted to relocate the germans to "Russia". The question is: why would he wants do to that? could it be possible the reason is similar to why western countries are fucking around with Russia non-stop since WW2?

Russia is the biggest country in the world with the most resources. But most of all: Its all over Eurasia. Forget about the continents Europe and Asia for a moment. In fact, it is ONE GIANT continent from west to east (just take a look on the worldmap) and the theory says the one who controls the "heartland" which is Eurasia, will control the world. Read the book.

And also, the guys who are into history: First it was the 2nd World War, then it was the cold war, now it is Putin. Don't you guys notice it? It is the same old story, Russia is the enemy (why? Heartland theory), but the enemy is a different one....communism, Putin, whatever.

Interesting. As I said earlier, I have nothing against Russian people. There are shit and good people in Russia the same as everywhere else (except Austria and Switzerland...lol only joking).

On a side note, where is the best place to see the Northern Lights in Norway? Seeing them is something I promised myself I would do once all the restrictions are hopefully over. I read Hammerfest would be a good place.

Agreed on China they are going around pretty much unchecked BUT I also think that's because of how much money they have tied up in countries debts and the amount of investments they pump into various things. Just need to look up the effect they have on the move industry for example..

I think China would win an economical war pretty easily.

Humans repeat and work in cycles a war (large scale global conflict) is long over due (sadly) one is coming just depends on what scale and how it's played out.

I don't think nukes are the issue, it's weapons we don't know about (yet) will be the problem or how things effect considering how intertwined everyone is with tech and import/exports..

Hehe I agree with you.

Somewhere in Finnmark county would be great, I lived there my 8 first years and saw it often when it was winter time :) Hammerfest is actually in Finnmark and have the only Hospital there, so I'm born in Hammerfest, but lived in Alta and Kautokeino (check out these two places) for some years before moving to southeast Norway around Oslo area :)

Small world eh. I read about Hammerfest in a book called Neither Here nor There by Bill Bryson. He stayed there for a while to see the lights. He also said some of the local people are afraid of the lights (some ancient superstition...apparently it's not good to show the lights white paper). It's a very interesting and funny book that I highly recommend. He visited Oslo in the book too. He took the bus from Oslo to Hammerfest and said it took 30 hours passing via Sweden and Finland on the way and said there was many weirdos on the bus lol.

Thanks for the tip bro. I will bear it on mind when planning my journey and give you a mention in my memoirs!

I checked out the book now on google, sounds pretty cool! Yeah, you can either drive 25-30h or take a 2h flight from Oslo to Alta, and most often people do drive via Sweden and Finland since the roads are much better there! :)

I'm sure the BBC try to be balanced, but aren't perfect. I do know they aren't a fake news company though. They go way back to the 1920's and were innovators in many things such as TV and radio. To compare them to some cheap, one man fake news blog made in 2019 isn't fair.

I really like to go to hot places and get some tan, actually I have not been this "white" for 10 years! Where are you from mate?

We have actually two places where 3 countries meet, with Russia and Finland (the most famous one) and with Finland and Sweden :)

Good one! Looks like your hometown is an even better spot than Hammerfest to see the lights. It's well within the Artic circle. Looks like a beautiful place. My plan is to go to see the lights for a month (to make sure I get the best chance of seeing them), so it helps if the town where I stay is a nice place. I won't be watching the lights 24/7. I'm going to do some more research on your town now, prices, hotels etc.

Yeah, it's a very beautiful place. If I'm not wrong, they have alot of tourist excursions there :) Make sure to have alot of warm clothes with you if you go in the winter time, since it's not hot there ;)
 
Haha thanks. I'll be in my warmest clothes don't worry. If I come in winter, it'll be dark most of the time right? Any polar bears there? That may sound like a stupid question, but they are scary animals!

Have you been to London before?
