Does the technique of redirecting an expired domain to another domain work to raise positions?

And what is the 100% most optimal and correct way to do it?

Thank you

There is no issue in 301 permanent redirects when it comes to google ranking.. In fact it is beneficial.

Could you tell me how to do it correctly, I'm quite a novice. Thank you very much

If you are in a spammy niche, then you can use almost whatever domain you want. Ideally, stick with at least wider niche relevancy.

In non spammy niches, you want your domain to be as closely relevant as possible. What tends to happen is that after a redirect, you receive an initial boost. Then however, gradually, your site will start losing rank.

Why this happens is, I presume, that the backlink boost is fast to catch on. However, with redirects you might dillute your topical relevancy, which takes a bit longer to catch up. Thus the gradual drop after.

And the way to do it is simple. Get a domain, rebuild it, use Archivarix for example. Let it just rest for a few months. Then write an article on your money site about the domain you want to redirect. Let it age a few weeks, then do the redirect. And that's that.

For me It does not have any issues, in fact, it boosted my website rankings. If the domain has good High authority backlinks then it is good for redirect to your main website.

And the simple way to do this is from your domain registrar. From there you can redirect your expired domain to your main website.

301 expired domain redirection works just fine DaniSeo9999. As a matter of fact, we have created probably the most comprehensive case study on the subject on SERP.domains, titled - $166,000 in NET Sales with 301 Expired Domain Redirection

Feel free to read it. :)

I usually use php to do 301 redirection, install php on your web server and set header to 301 within the index php script. I thought that was the most flexible way to do it

Yes, it still works, but make sure the backlinks are in your niche. Theme relevancy works wonders.

Say you have a pets site. It's not the same to get a link from a very high authotitative site in the car industry than a link from a established pet site. EVEN if the car industry link appears to have more authority, the pet site is a lot MORE relevant to your niche which will help a ton more.

@Nargil After how many months I could do the redirection? Even if the domain has no traffic? What method of redirection is the best?

Thank you very much for your time

Wait 2 - 3 months.

If that site has absolutely NO traffic, then you have done a mistake somewhere and your domain is most likely crap.

301.

@Nargil is it truly important to wait for the 2-3 months? I thought just telling the registrar to forward all traffic to current existing domain was enough?

Waste of a domain to do registrar redirections. I have mentioned how I do it. If you want to do it differently and cut corners, be my guest. Don't run around BHW then claiming that 301s do not work. :)

Haha fair enough. So after looking at your process this is what I understood: you link from forwarding-to-domain.com to forwarding-from-domain.com ... wait a bit and then do the 301 redirect. Am I right?

I am not linking anywhere. :) I take domain, rebuild it as it was, let it just rot for a few months, then redirect entire domain to the article on money site which is related to the redirected domain.

Ah to the article, not the main root domain!

Yes, You can redirect an expired domain to a new domain and it will give benefits to your new domain if you have done SEO for your expired domain.
